• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hello: i have been on seroquel for about a year and a half and i think it has helped me alot. i had to give a urine sample on my job today. i thank the Lord that i don't have to worry about illegal drugs, but i am worried about what might happen if they detect seroquel in my sample. does anyone here know anything about this? is seroquel likely to show up? has anybody had any experience with testing and seroquel?

thanks for any help.

I have had urinary drug screenings and have administered them. The tests they give do not usually identify all drugs in your system. Drug screenings are looking for specific types of drugs. The main screenings are for amphetimines, opiates, cocain, and benzos. I believe most psych meds do not fall into these categories. I'm not certain that alcohol can be found in the urine, and since it is legal, it shouldn't be an issue.

Now, if you recently had surgery, or are a chronic pain sufferer, you might be prescribed Percocet, Vicodin, Tylenol with Codeine, which are all legal if prescribed and not abused. They can show up in a urinary drug screen. Then, you would need a letter from the prescribing doc explaining why you are taking that medication. I recently had arm surgery and took Percocet for about six days till the wounds healed.

They only check for illegal drugs when running urine checks for work. It is illegal for them to check for any routine legal prescriptions.

From what I understand Seroquel doesn't show up on urine tests as it's active ingredient is Quetiapine and is not a substance that is tested for in drug tests.

But even if it would or anything else you are prescribed they usually ask you if you're on any prescribed medications and what they are, or they would ask you afterwards.

Madison1101 gave a very thorough answer. They check only for drugs of abuse. And if you are taking those by prescription for a medical reason they cannot hold it against you.

They do NOT check for seroquel in the urine. It is not a med that is abused on the streets so there is no reason to spend the money to check for it even if they could.

Where I live in Oregon they have medical marijuana and that will not protect you in a work ua situation. that is the only exception I know of.
