You seem to have things backwards. The sequestration was a concept proposed by Obama, subsequently supported by Obama using the bully pulpit, now using that same bully pulpit to pin the blame on Republicans.

I know it's brilliant isn't it! Boehner got "98% of what I wanted" in the deal including the automatic cuts they demanded (which became the 'Sequester' proposal) as a condition of raising the 'debt ceiling' before the end of 2012) and it still wasn't enough. So Obama sets him and the other Republicans up by claiming it was originally their idea (since it was). KNOWING that even though it was their idea originally they would act like they're against it simply because Obama was for it. IF the Sequester starts causing damage it will hurt the "do-nothing" Republican House (everyone knows who sets the budget). IF the Sequester actually works and Boehner tries to claim credit they'll simply play clips on the news of Boehner lying through his teeth. It is hilarious!

Anyone else noticing the subtle shift in verbiage going on? when did republicans start claiming 2% reduction in the growth of the budget?

Math:
requested 2013 budget $3.803 trillion
2012 budget $3.796 trillion
difference: $7 billion
2013 share of spending reductions?
$85 billion

85 is not 2% of 7.

Obama is on record as saying the Sequester will destroy the economy and trying to blame Republicans for it...

Let's all get real here, the bulk of the spending problem is entitlements not the military and the sequester doesn't really cut much of anything from what really needs to be cut.

Stop trying to rewrite history...

The facts are that Republicans agreed to go along with this and the debt ceiling raise, if work was done to actually cut spending and deal with the 800 pound gorrilla in the room which is the out of control entitlement spending.

Obama and Democrats never had any intention of cutting a dime from entitlements, and Obama is now trying to blame Republicans instead of taking responsiblity for the fact he chose to go golfing instead of doing his job as President, just like he was AWOL when Benghazi happened.

You seriously need to stop listening to Chris "shiver up his leg" Matthews.

"So when the president asks that a substitute for the sequester include not just spending cuts but also new revenue, he is moving the goal posts. His call for a balanced approach is reasonable, and he makes a strong case that those in the top income brackets could and should pay more. But that was not the deal he made."

All along he wanted higher taxes on those making more than 250,000 a year and lets not forget the poor oil companies that get big breaks even though they are making 24 billion a quarter while us poor people struggle to keep the gas tank filled
Are you keeping your tires inflated properly? I've heard that helps

The oils companies have nothing to do with the sequester.

But the government DOES have a large impact on the price of gas: 18 cents per gallon Federal on top of an average of 30 cents a gallon for states.
How much do oil companies make on a gallon of gas? Is it 4 cents, or thereabouts?

If the sequester was such a bad idea, why did Obama come up with it, sign it into law, and threaten to veto any republican effort to water it down? The truth is that the sequester isnt really a big deal despite what the pied piper of panic pretends it is. A 2% reduction in a proposed increase is insignificant, and the fact that people are spending so much time discussing it is embarrasing.
