A little perspective: the sequester will cut $85 billion out of a $3.5 TRILLION dollar budget. This is STILL AN INCREASE over previous budgets.
Also, the Fed is putting $85 billion PER MONTH into the economy under QE3.
ALL OF THIS POLITICAL BICKERING IS PURE GRANDSTANDING TO MAKE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE MAKING HARD CHOICES WHEN IN FACT GOVERNMENT SPENDING CONTINUES TO INCREASE.
The fight is not about limited government but WHO GETS TO SPEND MORE AND MORE OF YOU TAXES or BORROWED MONEY.
THIS WILL NOT STOP UNTIL VOTERS REALIZE THAT THEY SCREWED UP AND THROW THE ENTIRE PACK OF LOOTERS OUT.

Essentially the Republicans want to remove the military cuts and keep the cuts to social programs, since there not offering anything in return it's not a good idea to bargain.
The idea of the sequester of course is to get the two sides of the table to negotiate, but if they can't do so what is the point?
Honestly, I don't understand how it would be impossible for both parties to agree on spending cuts that amount to no more than $85 billion.
