WASHINGTON (AP)
-- Sen. David Vitter, R-Louisiana, apologized Monday night for "a very serious sin in my past" after his telephone number appeared among those associated with an escort service operated by the so-called "D.C. Madam."

Vote-smart.org tells us this about his votes:

Implement regulation of Internet content.

Support government mandates to curtail violent and sexual content on television.

Should aid to African nations for AIDS prevention fund abstinence education? Yes

Senator Vitter supported the interests of the American Civil Liberties Union 0 percent in 2003-2004.

Senator Vitter supported the interests of the Family Research Council 92 percent in 2004.

Another hypocrite exposed, not too bad. And that seems to be just the start, the list is available online, and many web communities are cracking the numbers and tracking down notable people on the list. Funnily enough, ABC, part of the Liberal Media told a lot earlier when they went through the list that there was no-one worthy of mention there. If sitting senator isn't worthy..

Oh and what Vitter had to say about this before? http://www.politicsla.com/columns/Tidmore/2004/March/032604_inside_track.htm

It's not true and only politically motivated claim. I really shouldn't be amazed anymore at the blatant lies of politicians but that it's always as sad.

A few other communities have also said that looking at the lists, so that could be said to be pretty solid find. Some other well known people have been found as well, but just propagating rumours isn't the best idea (Specially since numbers tend to change), so best just to wait it out. I'm convinced that there will be other bigger names confirmed as well though

I still like the anti-gay evangelical preacher who got busted for buying drugs by his gay drug-dealing male prostitute better... but this is pretty good.

I also liked the Senator's line about his "past sins." The nice thing about the present is that ALL of one's sins are in the past.

How David Vitter Got Nabbed in Madam Scandal
When he got home with a CD rom of the phone records given to him by Palfrey's attorney and started reverse checking all the thousands of numbers, he quickly grew weary and cross-eyed. It was a daunting task and it was getting late and still, no big names had surfaced.

"I said to myself, 'When am I going to stop?' I said, 'OK, I'll stop on my birthday.'"

His birthday, February 27, happens to be the fateful date on which Vitter was shown to have made a call from his home number in Washington to Palfrey's escort service, Pamela Martin and Associates.

Moldea tells us that he put the number he found on the Feb. 27 record through a reverse-search engine he was using, and the name popped up as "David Vitter." He ran the name twice more through two other search engines and got the same result.

He sent an email to Flynt and telephoned him to say "I got one." Flynt's first question was, "Is he a hypocrite?" Moldea says he replied, "Just wait 'til you see this guy."

Not only a "families values, sanctity of marriage" hypocrite, the clincher:

Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) first got his start in Congress after replacing former Rep. Bob Livingston (R-LA), who “abruptly resigned after disclosures of numerous affairs” in 1998. At the time, Vitter argued that an extramarital affair was grounds for resignation:

“I think Livingston’s stepping down makes a very powerful argument that Clinton should resign as well and move beyond this mess,” he said.
