  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anybody else ever done a semester abroad in their program?

I'm a Worship Arts major, and my school has changed the program so now in our 3rd year, Worship arts students spend a semester over in Europe. First we spend a week in Scotland at the Iona community and then we spend a week in France at the Taze community. THEN we go to Switzerland for 6-8 weeks (I can't remember how long lol)

I'm really excited, and yet really nervous at the same time. I'm the only girl that will be in 3rd year next year... it's scary. I know God has called me to be a Worship leader/pastor, but it seems as if I'm treading somewhere where most females don't really go. So I'll be the only girl going to Europe for my first semester in 3rd year (I'm finishing off my 2nd year right now) I'll definately have to trust God for this...

It's a good thing the guys that will be going are all pretty awesome :)

Wish you good luck ;)

Europe is a really nice place - I'm sure you're going to find some female friends here pretty soon....

So far I've never done a semester abroad but as a language student they recommend to do at least a semester.....

thanks Ainuhina :)

I've been to Europe before, and I loved it. Actually, I've been to all 3 of the countries we're going to go to for this coming semester abroad.

I would love to visit other countries too, but I'm happy that I get to travel again period.

Thing about meeting other girls there is that we don't spend much time in Scotland or France, so I might have to wait about 2-3 weeks until I can actually be in one place (Switzerland) long enough to develop a friendship... I really hope that there are more girls there than me! lol! Not that there aren't girls in the countries I'm going to, but I don't know how many girls will be staying at the communities while we are there...

I've never done a semester abroad (although I've been on shorter exchanges with school), but when I go back to college, I definitely want to do one. I think it's a great opportunity, regardless of what you're studying. It can definitely bring new perspectives on things.

How cool that you're going to Taizé! I was there this summer, and I had such a blessed time! Amazing place. I'm sure your stay in Europe will be awesome! Trust God! :)

I am actually very jealous of you right now :p

There is a school I'm considering going to in the next couple of years and in the third year of the program I'd like to take, they send their students away for a semester all the way toooo.... Langley, British Columbia :p :D

I guess I can't complain though since I actually do want to go to B.C., but that doesn't stop me from being jealous lol ;)

I haven't done any study abroad programs yet but I plan to this coming fall, in 2006! And perhaps on into spring of the year after that, God willing! Then I plan to graduate in the fall of 2007.

I think I'm graduating with my BA in 2008... then I'm hoping to get a Masters degree by about 2010/2011ish...

Did I mention we have tons of stuff within an hour of the college, like mountains to go Snowboarding/skiing, Vancouver city itself... hehe! oh and Lakes... to go swimming in. and places like Ft. Langley... or ammusement parks... one in Abbotsford and one in Vancouver :D The one in Vancouver is MUCH Bigger... and has more rides whereas the one in Abby is more games, mini-golf, go-karts, batting cages, etc...
