I'd like to figure out how to sell something on ebay, but I'm just too chicken... going in there~ it feels like a labryinth, and it's confusing. not very user-friendly.

I sell in spurts, and buy a few things occasionally. eBay is great for the odder items and used stuff, as you can get real deals. For commodity items, or new products, often times the prices are higher than the msrp. Then of course the shipping can be insane. The school system here buys all of its computers and IT gear off ebay. It saves them a ton of money as compared to buying brand new retail.

One does have to be careful. I got a good deal on a battery for my cell phone. It was 10% of the price I'd pay at my provider. But, it was a recalled unit, as it could catch on fire. No problem, as I sent it in to the mfgr, and got a new one free, not even a charge for shipping. I generally bid to 10% or 20% of the value of an item. That way, if I need to buy 3 of them before I get a good one, I'm still ahead.

For selling 1 or 2 items at a time, the ebay selling web page works ok, but it is confusing. When I put up 20 or more items... it would be a real chore to use the web. I have used turbo lister, and it works ok, but am checking out poster toaster next time around. To keep track of things I use shooting star... one could use paper, but my intent is cleaning, not necessarily to make money, so I am looking to save time, and make things easy. Shooting star's automated emails, tracking, and record keeping make it simple. They are supposed to come out with a new version shortly, so my thoughts on it may change. One never knows what to expect with new, it could be great, or a real headache.

I've been trying to sell some things but they are not going too well. It's mostly items from a Christian bookstore that I closed last year and I am just trying to re-coop some money. My mom is planning to sell some heirloom dresses for little girls....in time for Easter. Maybe that will go better. One thing for sure....you can find anything on ebay!!!

I've both bought and sold on e-bay, I highly recomend it. I have bought items from as little as $.99 up to $500 from e-books to comsumer electronics.
You have to be aware of the market value of the items, it is easy to go beyond retail if your not careful.
As to selling, do some comparative shopping, and again be careful of where things are listed. You might be suprised where you can put the same item and the difference in value.
If I can help with anything just p/m me, I'll do what I can.
One last thing ALWAYS, ALWAYS use "Pay-Pal" it is a 110% safe way to deal with money transfers.

I just came across this one... http://gumshoo.com/ they analyze an ebay auction and give out warnings as to whether something may be fraudulent. To me, it seems somewhat obvious, but to a newer user, might be a great tool.

Thanks. I haven't heard of that but will certainly check it out.

I've bought a lot of stuff on ebay, mostly used books, videos and needlepoint. I've never been "ripped off." Ii've found unique items for gifts and replacement parts, etc. I haven't sold anything yet, and have boxes of stuff marked ebay. There is a book called Ebay for Dummies which should be helpful. First you have to have an account, of course. You follow the steps and upload your description and photo. You choose categories. I hope you do well.
