Self-Defense

I went to a high school full of bullies, so my choices were to fight or run, and I don't like running. :)

What I discovered was once they knew I was CAPABLE of fighting, they never approached me TO fight.

I learned to be a comedian back then for sure, because that got me out of a lot of bad situations. If you were a cheerleader, you were automatically a target for a lot of abuse.

I knew I could fight, I was well-trained to fight, but I didn't WANT to.

Some of the moves I learned while in self-defense classes are invaluable and I've used some of them since high school....on two occasions.

I'm not sure I'd be here today if I hadn't defended myself quickly and with everything I had.

I've taught my oldest some moves too, but thankfully he's never had to use them.

I still have a little of the comedian in me from those days. I did amateur stand-up when I was in college the first time around. :)

I was curious as to everyones take on personal self-defense?

Not military. But defending yourself from bodily harm or death.

All marshall arts work closely with their respective philosophies/religions. Can't seperate them.

David sang that the Lord is our shield. Eph 6:12 tells us we wrestle not against flesh and blood.

Look at Israel, when they were obedient to the Lord, they had no enemy.

Also we look at the example of Jesus who never used physical force. He told us those who live by the sword die by the sword.

I think we are perfectly safe if we have close relationship with Jesus.
