Hi, my name is Chris and I have been saved for 8 years now.

Right now I am at a point in my walk with the Lord where I am really seeking him out. Seeking to know him more, seeking to do his will, seeking to have him reveal himself to me, seeking to just feel his presence in my life.

I just would like some advice on how to seek him out more. I know that I first must seek him above all else and to love him with all my heart, mind and strength before the things in my life fall into place.

If anyone has any advice on how to seek the Lord, I would greatly appreciate it.

I suggest you read Colossians.
Pay particular attention to Colossians 1:13-20. It gives a beautiful description of who Jesus Christ our Lord is.

Here it is for your convenience.
"The Father delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, for all things in heaven and on earth were created by him – all things, whether visible or invisible, whether thrones or dominions, whether principalities or powers – all things were created through him and for him. He himself is before all things and all things are held together in him. He is the head of the body, the church, as well as the beginning, the firstborn from among the dead, so that he himself may become first in all things. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in the Son and through him to reconcile all things to himself by making peace through the blood of his cross – through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven."

A great way to seek Him out is to recognize "all things were created through Christ and for Christ." Be in awe and gratitude for His wondrous creation.

Feel free to message me if you want to start a dialog about God.

Hi Chris,

Your heart is in the right place and that's a great start.

Pray to God and talk him about what's on your heart. Ask him to help you with your Christian walk. God is only too willing to help those who ask and seek after him providing they are humble in Spirit.

Read his words (the bible), the gospel of John is a great record of the book of our Lord's life on earth. The gospel of John can really open your eyes as to how great God's love is for you.

You can read it online here: John 1 NIV

@emperormar: Thank you so much for providing that part of Colossians for me to read. When I read my Bible tonight, I will also start reading in Colossians. Thanks for the advice too, it's greatly appreciated. I think I will take you up on your offer to open up a dialog about God, too.

@fm107: Thank you so much for your advice. I'm learning more and more to open up to the Lord about what is on my heart and it's becming easier every time I pray. Yes, I do read my Bible every day and pray every day too. I know I am getting closer to Him and he to Me because I am seeking him out more actively than I did in the past.

I have to realize that all things in my life are now in God's time.
