I am new to this forum and to making posts, but I am seeking communion with others to find some insight, challenge, growth and ultimately peace for where I am.
I have been an active practicing Christian all of my life. I understood who Jesus was as a little child and was baptized Roman Catholic. After some falling away from God, I sought him out but was “Excommunicated” from the Roman Catholic Church due to that behavior. I went to other Catholic (Old Catholic) organizations only to be finding not the truth but others truth that was cemented in worldly nonsense (Canon and Rules). Ultimately God put my wife in my life who guided me to the bible and then the Holy Spirit spoke to me. I reaccepted His influence in my life in 2003 (officially). My wife and I have been side by side since. We worshipped together and still. We spend our time building into others outside of church. We are struggling at this time as the churches we used to go to have changed and are no longer multidimensional. They serve the millennials and children. Our generation (Gen –X) has been forgotten.
I came back to God due to great teaching and some good old fashioned Hymns. I began to get into the contemporary worship in 2000- 2009, but Contemporary changed to Jesus Culture and 3 chord songs that sing of relationship only. It does not speak to either me or my wife. WE HUNGER for GOD and to Worship Him. We have not found a church that is anywhere close to where we want to be. They all seem to teach to the newest Christian and do not speak to mature Christians at all. The Small Group experience does not work for us. We are looking for Community and what we are getting is baby teaching. We would rather spend our time ministering to others with our outside ministry and not constantly reaching in.
We are often getting our best times when we do not go to church but spend time with Him together and worship with what we had in our past. We then listen to a pod cast and talk about it.
Please let me know if you can understand what I have here. We do not think we are alone in this.
