Seeking a 180 degree turn in rules (or going backwards)

My brothers and sisters, the whole premise of the rules was to stop the rancor, hate, attacks, and flaming. Well in that you can say the rules succeeded, so to now say lets "drop the rules" or "go back to what we had" is to say lets go back to rancor, hate, attacks, and flaming.

That isnt logical, what is needed is a recognition of what needs to be adjusted in the rules, identifying it and specifying how it should be rewritten.

That is what we should put our energy into, getting it right, not too hot, not too cold, but just right....

You know I will always strive for what is right, and I want to make sure we are 'doing the right thing' when it comes to the rules, in its intent, purpose, and content...

If you recall in previous rule process making several of us made multiple suggestions which were largely ignored. Now it may be that the larger forum has learned some lessons but I don't get that feeling.

Also the rules that did get put in place were not really in the main to prevent "the rancor, hate, attacks, and flaming." As all those were covered under the CF rules anyway. Well with the exception of rancor which turned out to be anything that the more traditional SDA's did not like, therefore it was rancor and an attack on the SDA church.

My plan until I see some significant changes in the discussion forum and moderators is to post here and then place a link over there to our discussion here even if it means duplicating thread titles. I am sure that only a few of the more traditionals will actually come here but I really can't abide the kind of totalitarianism that exists in the main SDA forum.

Well, a few of those who were banned were causing a majority of the reports, and the attacks have stopped or been reduced to a whimper, so it doesnt take a leap of logic to figure out what element was taken out....

it takes a leap of logic for you to conclude what you have.... in the mental health field we have a saying, "those taken in for treatment are usually not the ones who really need the treatment...." Application here perhaps those who were banned are not the ones needing it...

that there was a determined effort to get some people banned and that was accomplished.....

the person who decided to report those they felt were offensive to them is how they are related... now should that person begin to believe that there are others who are attacking them or flaming them then the reports will start again.... It does not mean necessarily those folks were as offensive as the reports made them out to be....

it is my belief that the traditionals would be more than happy to rid the forum of as many progressives as possible.... so who has been banned.... 2 progs and 1 trad.... several more progs have been reported including Ice and myself..... so pardon my cynicism...

I dont think you can point to one person as the cause of all "the rancor, hate, attacks, and flaming." Lets be real, I personally told many of the ones doing the deed to step back from the brink and they willfully with full mental facilities took the plunge into the abyss.

Now the question is, could anything else have being done, or could be done including adjusting the rules, to keep them from doing it. That is what I am asking with this thread..

you have your perception and I have mine.... it is clear that there are two different views here and those who believe they are right and are upholding the "standards" of the church have little patience for those who don't agree with their view....

Thats why you have to deal with facts, and the fact is rules were enforced, problem solved.

Now the question is, could we have done it better, I think we could have, but I need your input so I can assist in taking your concerns and ideas and present them.

I am dealing with the bigger picture... the main fact is that there are two different views held by those here... the rules were made by who? those who view themselves as traditionals. It just so happened that they got caught in their own rules...
