Hmm, that is interesting. Do I think God reveals himself to us in many ways? Absolutely. But I don't believe every instance of God revealing himself is "supernatural". He created our brains in such a way that, even from birth, we naturally seek faces in patterns. When we see His face in a pattern, such as on burnt toast or a stain on the wall or in cat fur, I don't believe it's because he went out of his way to make the object in question look like his face. I believe it's because in the beginning, he went out of his way to make us God-seekers.

I don't know what Jesus looks like, so its hard for me to believe in any image I see of Jesus. But how relevant is Jesus's image anyways? For in Genesis it says we're made in the image of God. Its his action and deeds that is more important than any painting or statue.

Yes i agree.
The shroud of turin has a totally different picture of Jesus on it than the images do that people claim to see. No picture of Jesus actually matches up...actually i think Jesus is supposed to have had dark skin. I have yet to see a picture of Him like that.

He may've had dark skin or light skin, I don't know, nor is it of great importance to me.

I came from a background that pushed a certain image of Jesus upon me. I'm from Ghana, West Africa, growing up as a young boy most of our churches pushed a certain image of Jesus upon us. It was a blond haired blue eyed figure I was told to pray towards. As I got older and started to fall in love with the scripture I asked myself "Why must I pray towards an image?" Then it dawned on me that I loved an image more than His works and His words.

I agree - its not of importance to me, either. But i think the image should be more true to light than it is sometimes.

Maybe theres a reason for that? :)

I think because all the crazy people from the rest of the world traveled over there, so for example here in Europe there are mostly the skeptics left behind that just see toast and eat it instead of looking for religious figures in it.

Well, at least that's the best theory I can figure out.

I've seen these type of things since I was 11 now almost 21. And the weird thing is, I haven't heard anyone talk about this till way after it happened to me. I have a picture of who I believe is Mary at the foot of a cross. In this picture mary is made up of a rock and the cross is made by two tree branches that cross and that shadow is on a heart shaped rock. So it looks just like she is praying at the foot of the cross, you can even see a tear in her eye. But the weird thing is, I wasn't chrisitan at the time, so how in the world did I even know that this could be possible which is actually things Catholics discuss?

Well if you ever see an image you can just pass it off as nothing.
This isnt supposed to be a sarcastic thread, btw.

Oh, I didn't think you were serious about this actually, so sorry if I answered in a wrong way.

But I actually think its absurd to think that Jesus would manifest him self in a Cheetos or cats fur, and not just absurd, but I also think it is inappropriate to suggest any such thing. Even blasphemous.

I've seen many strange things in clouds for example, but I don't think its anything else then my own imagination making the clouds into something else then clouds. God gave us a good imagination, a mind that can be used for many things, but thinks like suggesting that Virgin Mary has manifested her self in a toast is to make Christianity into some cheap entertainment, the way i look at it. And when I hear about people selling things like this on e-bay and other places, it actually make me angry, and I can't believe that anyone would think that this got anything to do with Christianity.

The bible don't mention any such things. It do mention that Jesus manifested him self in the physical realm to John, but it was not about food or cat fur that time. He had a really serious message for the world, and the way he manifested him self was so powerful that John - even if had lived with Jesus for years - fell down on and got terrified by his power.

Jesus is HOLY, he is no small, earthly thing we can make fun entertainment about.

Its alright. I just didnt imagine anyone to make snide remarks about the subject. But i agree with what you say - partly.
I think that some people probably make sure some of the images look like Jesus just to get on the news and i think that is sickening if that in fact happens, but some of it i think is true - now...is it a sign? I dont think so but who knows?
If a non-believer sees it in something and changes their lives then i think its a good thing.

Yeah that is a great comment. Also, no one knows what the Virgin Mary looks like either.
