I am prepairing a Seder and was wondering what all
y'all are going to fix that night food wise.

(FYI I was a Chef for 14 years)

Also when do you serve the meal? At what point in the evening? I would think at the very end.

Last and this is umm touchy I cannot drink alcohol at all. Leave us just say that what the Lord has freed me from I will not walk back into. Any thoughts about how inappropriate grape juice would be?

Blessings

I make the best matzoh ball soup!
You need to use seltzer did you know that?

But I wonder of the bubbles count as leavening?

Maybe a chicken I will cook since I am
just a poor backwoods preacher struggling to
buy Bibles as it is. :yum:

One would NEVER have bagels at a Seder as they contain levening (a rising agent) Same as if you make matzoh ball soup you dare not put baking powder into it as it will cause it to rise also.

No Seltzer in the matzoh balls is a very NY thing. This will make the matzoh balls light and fluffy with out the use of levening as you are adding the CO2 in the seltzer. But I am really not sure if that counts as levening or not.

Anyway I think it shall be roasted chicken I serve

And I extend of course an open invitation to all to come.

Blessings

Speaking of blessings umm where did they go?

I'm curious why don't lamb. I thought it was traditional.

It is lamenting the loss of the temple. Once the temple is rebuilt then lamb will be served again at the pesach seder.

on another note...
there's two types of matzoballs: Cannon balls (dense and heavy) and cotton balls (light and fluffy).

Those who have grown up in a traditionally jewish home always have a strong preference for one or the other. Me? I love the cannon balls.

Before the Temple's destruction, the afikoman was not a piece of matzah; rather, it was the Pascal lamb: On the afternoon before Passover, Jews everywhere came to Jerusalem and brought lambs to the Temple. A tiny part of each lamb was burned on the altar and the rest was eaten at the end of the Seder. (Hence the phrase "Please pass the Pascal!")
Ever since the Romans destroyed our Temple about two millennia ago, we do not offer sacrifices. So we eat matzah in place of the Pascal Lamb as a commemoration.

One of the reasons offered as to why it was replaced with matzah is that matzah represents the food of oppression. In a spiritual sense, until the Jewish People are once more able to offer up sacrifices in the rebuilt Temple we are in a state of oppression. That's the reason why the afikoman is broken in half, to teach us that we have yet to become "whole."

This is also one reason that we end the Seder with the phrase "Next year in Jerusalem." Why? Because our Seder is incomplete so long as it is missing those special mitzvot such as the Pascal lamb that can only be performed in the Temple in Jerusalem.

What type or version of Bible are you trying to buy?
Perhaps I can help by donating some.
I would be happy to do so.

We use the NIV New Testement for the Jail ministry. They are $37.50 a case of 50.

We use the NIV because most of the men we see who are in Solitary Confinement have very low reading skills and they simply do not understand the King James version. And the ONLY books they are allowed to have are a Bible or a Quiran.

We only use the New Testement because if given an old testement the Muslims have a habit of using it to prostelytize to the men. Remember we get access to them for only 1 1/2 hours a week the muslims have them for all the rest of the time. Experience shows that they cannot turn the Brit Chasdssa against our struggling brothers.

So thats the story
If you are interested in still helping I can give you the address of the church and you are welcome to bless as you see fit.

And thank you for your concern and love

Blessings
