  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Let's face it, I love music. I especially like heavy metal music. But I am also a Christian and really love Jesus. I listen to all kinds of Christian music and like that. I have a particular fondness for Heavy metal music. i do listen to a lot of Christian metal. But I also like secular metal i do stay away from the satanic bands like Slayer and Venom or any other band that write about death, evil and other dark subjects. I alos play guitar and read the guitar magazines to get tip on how to be a beter player and find out what is going on in the world of guitars. I do likw AC/DC and Randy Rhoads and am learning How to play Crazy Train. But Rick Warren(authoe of the book"the Purpose Driven life") said in the book that music without lyrics is neither christian or secular but its the lyrics that make it Christian or secular( my parapharse of his words). So if anyone listens to secular music for the pure musical inspiration of it paying no attention to the lyrics is it wrong? Should a christian even be listening to secular music? Will it corrupt our walk with God by leading us away from Him?

You wont listen to Slayer but youll listen to AC/DC whos most famous song is American Thighs? Or Randy Rhoads who played alongside Ozzie and who played Picking Up The Pieces? Dude...we gotta have a talk

Music is music, if God cared that much, it wouldnt be here

I dont think they are, but most "upright" Christians consider Black Sabbath and Ozzie to be a little on the wicked side

upright? oh, I thought you meant "uptight". Black Sabbath isnt wicked at all. You obviously havent listened to them or read their lyrics. That ignorance. You cant say something is evil if you havent experienced it.

Speaking of not listening...I have ZERO objections to Black Sabbath, Neon Knights is one of my all-time favorite songs, I have tons of thier music.

Im saying OTHER PEOPLE consider Black Sabbath on the "ungodly" list

Well then those people are ignorant idiots. Just because of their name they say "its satanic" Creed is more satanic than Black Sabbath.

All things are tolerable but not all things are beneficial.

Heavy metal on the secular side glorifies sin and the devil.

What does AC/DC's song's Highway to Hell and Hell's Bells imply?

It's pretty obvious.

God did invent music but it was invented to worship him and the devil has the majority of it worshipping him.

The choice is yours for we all have free will but there are side effects that will affect you in secular heavy metal subliminally.

Garbage in = Garbage out.

Have a good day.

It's alright dude, I hear the same thing about hip-hop music all the time. And being a big hip-hop fan, I find it doesn't affect me that much.

I mean, I really haven't changed. I did buy a bunch of new roca wear and sean john clothes, along with the reebok g-unit shoes. I also bought a compton hat and a gat, which i always stay strapped with. Women are mere objects to me; I talk about hookin up with hood rats and stuff, cappin' all my haters, going on drive-bys, smokin blunts and drinkin 40s.

But yeah, hip-hop hasn't really affected me.
