I was in so much distress recently trying to find a "meaningful career" (not even factoring in if it's realistic in terms of paying for school or having the aptitude). Nothing seemed meaningful. Helping others--without God, what exactly is the "purpose" of helping others? "Because they need help." So? Why should I care? Look deeper.
But working for money is empty. I don't care about material goods. I think a glamorize life is a horrible life. What's the "point" of buying new shoes?
I prayed and I feel a million, billion times better. I have the "peace that surpasses all understanding."
Now I realize that meaning is not found in jobs, but in a relationship with Jesus.
Besides, I believe 99% of jobs involve toil, otherwise we wouldn't get paid for it. That suffering is worthless without a relationship with God.
