Thanks. We spoke about baptism at the new Christian's class I am attending and they made clear I would not being doing it for my salvation. The handout said "baptism is like a wedding ring. No one would say that a marriage and a wedding ring are the same thing. If you lose your wedding ring, you are still married. But the wedding ring is important because it is a concrete commitment you made on the wedding day and everyday. It is the symbol of the covenant of marriage. Baptism is a symbol of the covenant of salvation."Even if it's considered as a second babtism. There is no biblical reason why someone could not. There are real reasons why they could. However, salvation is not predicated upon terrestrial baptism by a member of a church. So long as it is undertaken for the right reasons, it is a good and right thing to do when an adult decides to dedicate their lives to Christ and accept His salvation.

Yikes, I need to change that. The church I am attending is nondenominational (although both pastors are ordained Anglican). I was a member of a PCUSA church.Frankly, I'm surprised that a Presbyterian church would advise an unnecessary second baptism. However, I notice that the analogy about marriages and wedding rings doesn't actually address the issue. I know of no church that thinks baptism guarantees salvation, and the wedding right comparison fails because you haven't "lost" your baptism like the ring in the story.
Ah, yes. I just noticed the other thread you started and so I picked up that fact.Yikes, I need to change that. The church I am attending is nondenominational (although both pastors are ordained Anglican). I was a member of a PCUSA church.
Can you narrow it down for me? As to where to find the answer? To see/ research/ look up via Bible search, or other:
A symbol in part. What specifically does Scripture Say Immersion in Jesus' Name accomplishes ?
Specifically , not before, not after, which are different times.

I said the Jesus prayer when I was 9 because I was afraid of going to hell and I figured hey, if I can get out of hell by saying a prayer, I'll do it. I did not actually believe. I followed up with baptism because it was expected. Now I believe and I am wondering if I should get baptized again? I don't feel a lot of anxiety over it; I'm just wondering what people think.
