I like to think that if we as a church spent as much time trying new and progressive ways to reach the post-modern generation of today as we do dwelling on and fawning over the past, we would accomplish tenfold more than we are right now. As it stands, things like this only re-affirm in the minds of cutting edge, urban, 21st century SDA's that thier church is indeed a hoplessly outdated relic of the past with nothing relevant to offer people who are living outside of Amish communes.

This is interesting to me as someone interested in History (I would be interested in seeing the same sort of thing for Martin Luther/etc). I don't have any time I want to spend watching it right now though.

My concern is that I think there are those who look to these people as the perfectors of adventist thought, rather than the beginners of adventists thought.

I remember doing a re-enactment of early SDA pioneers one Sabbath that happened to fall on Oct. 22. I was James White...

The relics have lived on...and on, and on...

The movement became a monument long ago. Even today we tend to be stuck in the past, unable to move forward.

Yes, I am a big historian as well. I am more interested in Medieval history and Classical history though.

I've seen just enough South Park to laugh uncontrollably. The 'Mormon' episode was outstanding!
