We had a Catholic Theologian come to town and I thought the inquisition was back in business, talk of heresy and herectics was flying all around as Catholic Theologian Anthony Padovano (A leader in the International Federation of Married Catholic Priests, who wants to re-define "fidelity") came to give his veiws at a local church. Here is some of the letters from the editor of the local newpaper and to the editor:

"...The xxx display ad announcing the appearance of Anthony Padovano at the xxx Presbyterian Church attracted a lot of attention. The ad was paid for by Voice of the Faithful of Southwest Florida.
As one of the protesters (our signs read "Faithful Catholics Shun Padovano"), I can attest that a large crowd arrived for the talk. Of course, does any one know how many people followed the Pied Piper into the deep?
Standing there, watching the cars pull into the parking lot, I noticed most of the people were of an age that they should have known better.
A few facts not mentioned in the ad: Padovano is a Catholic priest (laicized) who is married (after making a solemn promise to be celibate); founded CORPUS, which promotes the ordination of women (contrary to Catholic doctrine); still witnesses marriages (invalid for Catholics but not illegal), and has removed his name from the Rent a Priest Web site but still takes referrals from them.
In fact, Padovano is in violation of the conditions of his laization to which he agreed.
Finally, what happened to the "ecumenical spirit" which is highly promoted these days? I was surprised that a Protestant denomination allowed Padovano to speak when Bishop Frank xxx refused him permission...."
"...Letter: An apology is owed
Editor, xxx:
Re: The xxx ad by Voice of the Faithful, which condemns Bishop xxx for barring heretical former priest Anthony Padovano from speaking in the diocese.
First, religious institutions have the right to formulate rules and regulations as to who does and who does not speak on their premises. The good bishop was well within his right to bar Padovano from appearing. Padovano is known for his heretical views; this is one reason he is an "ex" priest.........."
"...Letter: Evil meets bad
Editor, xxx:
The xxx on Tuesday ran a defamatory ad against the good Catholic bishop ........The ad you ran was paid for and written by an evil group of dissident former Catholics called Voice of the Faithful.
They were disgruntled because Bishop Dewane would not let their speaker, Anthony Padovano, speak at any Catholic parish.
Padovano, a former bad priest, was laicized and is no longer allowed to speak on things that are Catholic in public.
Please print an apology and retraction for running such an anti-Catholic advertisement......"
"...Letter: Shun the heretics
Editor, xxx:
Please stop your anti-Catholic bias and avoid taking adds from the Voice of the Faithful, a heretical group..........."
He also had his supporters:
"..Letter: We can think for ourselves
Editor, xxx
The banning by Bishop xxx of distinguished Catholic theologian Anthony Padovano from speaking on "Hope in the Catholic Church" on Catholic church grounds was a heavy-handed exercise of ecclesiastical authority.
Sponsored by the Voice of the Faithful of Southwest Florida, Dr. Padovano spoke to a large Catholic audience at xxx Presbyterian Church.
Padovano had written, "I believe every abortion is a tragedy and that we must work for a world in which abortions are neither necessary nor chosen." Nevertheless, he was banned by Bishop xxx for being pro-choice.
Perhaps it is because Padavano's scholarly published research reveals the inconvenient truth that many of the Church's most respected theologians, including Saints Augustine, Jerome, Thomas Aquinas and Alphons Liguori the patron saint of moral theologians have never accepted the church's current position that human life begins at conception. He also points out that the church has never declared any of its moral teachings, many of which have changed over time, to be infallible.
The church's best-kept secret the long-established moral theological principle of double effect allows informed Catholics to make difficult choices in real world situations. Educated Catholics know that not all abortions are intrinsically evil, notwithstanding the Catholic curse of "creeping infallibility" which ignores theologian Pope Benedict XVI's assertion of the primacy of conscience over ecclesiastical authority.
Dr. Padovano did not speak about abortion. Still, ecclesiastical censorship of what we are allowed to hear on our own turf is repugnant to adult, thinking Catholics........"
What is scripturally the steps to handle this type of disagreement without trying to "burn the heretic at the stake", figuratively........
