Screaming For Jesus???

Not against any of the bands out there, but I have a simple question for you guys. What is the meaning of screaming during certain songs? What kind of feeling does it show from these christian singers? Is there really a purpose for this? Screaming isn't really music...

Some examples are: Emery - Walls, Blindside - Eye Of The Storm, Kutless - Let You In, P.O.D. - The Messenjah.

Now, I'm not hating on this whole issue, but why do they scream during their songs?

Well, in my look of it. It's just the artists music style/ influence. I think that screaming is the universal sign of frusterated expression and it does go good with some songs. Though thats just my taste, other prefer all screamo, others none. I honestly don't care for it as I did a year ago.

Because they dont have to be in the "rock" genre, and they dont want to be in the "metal" genre, so they use a little of both

it's just a style that some people like... it has nothing to do with what they are singing about most of the time... just the type of style

well, i geuss you could say that they might feel frustrated with their lives, trying to live up the Christian standard in this world and such, or are frustrated and hate the evil things/poor condition of this world.

True. Alot of those songs they do throw in a scream to show the frustration of the situation the song relates to.
However, my favorite "screams" are the ones that show the passion of the way they feel, not necessarily having to do with frustration at all.
There are also some "screams" the hard rockers do just to show boldness. ...Those just make me laugh.

Neshamah (a christian hardcore band from Cape Town, South Africa) scream all the time. However, I've been to concerts of theirs when, while they're screaming, they're on their knees in worship to God and the Holy Spirit moves through the whole place. So I have to agree and say that my best kind of screamo is when passionate emotions are released, not really frustrated ones.

BTW, Neshamah is Africa's best hardcore band.

screaming is just a form of communicateing, the same way rhhyming is in rap, screaming is just a part of rock

i like the screaming.. my fav band is Bride they are still going and still screaming and still preaching the word at every concert.

God gave everyone talents right......screaming is a talent (it is a ton harder than singing) Now why not use the talents God gave us. Thats what Emery, Blindside, Pillar, and all them do, they use their talents to glorify God. Get my point?

Now, i'm not really into the whole screaming thing, but if you are filled with the spirit i'm sure you have a way of showing it, this is just their way of praising God.

It lets out some of their anguish over some issues. And it is a style that is liked, so they like to scream. But I can understand why they scream, it is something mental that gets released when they scream and it actually feels good to let it out.

I am in a band, and yes, when you are finsihed with a high energy song you feel better. Me being the vocalist, it lets a lot of stress off.
