  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi Netters,

Well I have done some, but don't have much time to do it at the moment. I made a baby album for my brother and sister in law for their son Luke's first year, and this year I think I might do one for another of my brothers. Their eldest son is 8 and they waited so long for a second child. James is now 4 months.

When I get into scrapbooking I enjoy it. I like making personal presents wherever possible anyway.
What have you made, and which makes do you use?

Just after I posted my last reply, there was an item on London tonight (local news) about how scrapbooking is becoming popular in London. And there's a shop just opened not too far from us which sells only scrapbooking things.

Is this guidance, do you think? ;)

*sqeals* EEE! I love scrapbooking! It's very popular where I'm from! We have big scrapbooking parties. This way, each person buys a couple of tools, and when you go to the party, everyone shares their tools. It saves bundles of money if you can find people to do it with!

I too really, really enjoy scrapbooking. For me I really get into it and it can take quite a while to finish a page or several. If I'm starting a new album, haha... that's the longest, took me over 2.5 hours once to do 1 page... but what a page it was when I was done. ;)

I do my most scrapbooking when I am a what is often call 'crops' ...or basically scrapbooking parties like GypsyBella mentioned. They are heaps of fun, you can get more ideas, use other's tools, which means you can buy your stash slowly. They are definitely a blast!!!

Sorry I haven't replied sooner. I went on vacation for my anniversary. My sister in law actually got me started by giving me a crop station bag and a bunch of stuff for Christmas. I have done pages for my cat (my baby!) and a few pages for my husband's bike rides. He rides every summer in the MS150 which is a 150 mile bike ride to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He does it as a way to show his support and love for me so I decided to scrapbook all the pictures and stuff for him. It has been fun but I wish I had more time to do it because all my time is spent studying because I am in college full time. :)

Scrapbooking. Oh where do I begin? I love to sit down and create things. One tip though, I'm going back and replacing alot of my pages b/c I started when I was 12 because I didn't journal in them. Each picture has a story and just a brief telling of the tale will last forever. Just think about it...My grandma passed away when I was 7 years old and she's holding me close to her and I regret taking the time and writing a brief story of her and me for my kids to see just a peek of what their great grandma was like when I was a little girl.
Oh, and anyone do any Altered Books? I'm a addict for the craft. A complete and Hopeless addict.

I've never tried scrapbooking but i realy want to try it - where is the best place to start?

Well Walmart has an okay selection of materials. Michaels and Hobby Lobby are also favorites for places to get a lot of stuff. The first thing I did was to get a book and the clerk help me to pick one out. Also if there is a scrapbook store near you, they often have places where you can go and they will help you get started.

Try a stationary shop or office supply shop. Here scrapbooking is getting popular enough even some of the unusual places have a small corner of stuff for it. Locally there's a "party" shop where you can get balloons, plates, plasticware, mints and such... but they've recently made a huge change that is for scrapbooking stuff. I'm not sure where in the UK to find scrapbook supplies, but I'm sure it's going to make it's way over there eventually if it has not yet. Don't give up beetlequeendiva. :D
