Yes, the Heaven's Gate cult demonstrated that intelligence can co-exist with religion.
Those guys were top-notch web designers.
Extreme example is extreme and not representative of the many religious people who are scientists or view science and religion as compatible.

Psssst, I have two degrees in the sciences. I also have a degree in mathematics (pure math, not applied). Yet I am religious and I enjoy being religious

You may enjoy it but is it true? or is truth not an issue?
Would you say it is because you prioritize?
Can you balance the two correctly?
Yes, I know.
Anyone who says, "Moar religin meens less smarts," is blowing smoke.
Tell me what truth is and I'll tell you if it matters. I say that because defining truth is a difficult thing. For me truth matters but for me truth's definition is "that which God is" and "that which God reveals". Some think of truth as "correspondence between concept and reality" but that invites the question "what is real?" and then a whole can of worms is open and the little things are wiggling all across the field of human ideas.
So, yes in my understanding of truth religion is true. Your experience may vary.
Yes, I know.

Religious extremism also demands a great deal of denial, not only denial but very selective denial.
AV, do you believe that Mohammed rode up to heaven on a winged horse? no? but you do believe that Jesus was raised from the dead?
In reality, any extremist view is going to require; denial, confirmation bias and a good set of defense mechanisms to protect the extreme view, from reality.
Doesn't matter whether it is an extreme religious view, or anything else.
Again, I disagree.Religious extremism also demands a great deal of denial, not only denial but very selective denial.
Of course not.AV, do you believe that Mohammed rode up to heaven on a winged horse? no?
Of course.but you do believe that Jesus was raised from the dead?
And Enoch was taken to heaven by God.
At least the person or persons who wrote the Quran had the sense to realise a few things,
Religious extremism also demands a great deal of denial, not only denial but very selective denial.
Again, I disagree.
The Heaven's Gate cult were both religious extremists, and top-notch webmasters as well.
The Heaven's Gate cult lived in complete and absolute denial of everything that made sense and died because of it.
Is that why they ran a successful business called Higher Source?
