• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey everyone,

Have any of you been scared that through some of your ocd spikes that you have said or uttered something blasphemous on accident, but in reality you really don't know what you said, or you just get that overwelming feeling that you said something blasphemous and now you are condemned. I don't know but sometimes i think by mumbleing, and I am in constant fear that I said something bad that was in my mind on accident and I get really scared. Do any of you guys have this problem??

Seajoy you seem so well and good, you are truly blessed that your ocd is in remission. Your spirit seems like it is always high. I am about to go on medication. Hope it helps me out. Thanks so much for responding. GOD gave you a big heart and thanks! GOD BLESS YOU!
Thank you for your kind words. God has blessed me richly in my recovery of ocd. But I had suffered in torment for 8yrs before even being diagnosed properly. I have seen psych floors 9 times in my life.

Yes, my spirits are up, but I have my down moments too (just not because of religious ocd, praise the Lord).

I still take my medication every day. I have for 15yrs. It's something I have accepted, and am grateful to God that it's available.

Give your meds some time to work, and learn the therapy. Both are God's gifts to those of us afflicted with this disorder.

God bless you, too!

I am happy to hear that seajoy, and thanks orangecruch98 for your prayer. I spend so many hours just on my OCD trying to block out thoughts and being so afraid to speak anything from my mouth! It is just so depressing, i just always feel so sad and most people don't understand why. In life I know we are going to go through things and experience things that might scare the wits out of us but we know that through CHRIST JESUS ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! I AM READY FOR MY MIRACLE!

Thats not what was supposed to happen for me.God has been helping me in an extraordinary way for the past 5 months and im not 100% healed yet.SO just know that on the road to getting healed from OCD there will be ups and downs but you will get better along the way.

Praying for you Babegirl,
Wonderful advice has been offered to you already. I agree with all of it. Someday you will get to the point where you will be able to tell these moods and feelings just where to get off. Remember that if it weren't for the extreme anxiety response going in your brain you would have no problem shrugging these things off. OCD is a real biological disorder and though it's extremely distressing it's nothing to feel shame about. You didn't choose it but you can choose to do those things which will help you in your recovery.
Welcome to the forum. Hope to hear from you again about your progress.

You have obviously already received excellent advice here. Let me just echo that! I'm new to Christian.forums. So much of what you guys are sharing about feeling condemned over thoughts and possible thoughts, accidentally blaspheming the Holy Spirit etc. I experienced many years ago. I still have my own OCD struggles but not about thiskind of thing anymore. The key to dealing with this type of OCD thought is to recognize that it has absolutely NO spiritual significance.
As hard as it is, just let it go. When you begin to attach no value to the thought and think of it as mind clutter, the less often these thoughts will torment you. It's like if someone says don't think of green monkeys, whatever you do. Of course, green monkeys will be all over your thoughts!

Truly, trust me on this as someone who has walked through it, it has NO spritual significance. You are not going to ACCIDENTALLY blaspheming the Holy Spirit. If you did, by your definition, then it's NOT the unpardonable sin that Jesus spoke about. The whole thing is OCD! It IS! Believe me, professional counselors will even tell you that this is a common theme among Christians with OCD.

I still of course had that bad feeling in my mind! That I have said something and I start to feel condemned. Even through good days it always comes back to me. Like I have called the Holy Spirit something bad on accident because I am trying to contradict thoughts in my head by speaking the truth and sometimes I feel that I might have spoke the thought on accident. I don't know if that unpardonable!
