Scam?Phoney email address?

I don't know where else to post this question. I Blocked several Junk emails and at the last second saw one said FBI@un.gov or Federal Bureau of Investigation@un.gov.
I know un.gov is the United Nations Government Website because I Googled it and went there. I never opened it, can't retrieve it. And since I've had Trojans before I would not opened it if I could retrieve it. I contacted the UN and got a form reply. Can anyone answer this question? Can an address like un.gov be fake?

Any From address can be faked.

Yes, the From field means very little. It's the envelope From that matters, and you never see that. Besides, the FBI does not work out of the UN. At least not yet. This says SCAM all over it. Be careful, because depending on your mail client, just opening the mail can trigger malware. And nowadays the fave MO is ransomware that can cost you $300 or more to get your data back. Your email provider should be sending these mails to a spam folder automatically.

Thanks brothers, My email provider does go into a JUNK Folder but I have to Delete or Block from there.

I would clearly contact all the relevant authorities such as the FBI and send them the emails; they will be able to check their servers and perform their own checks into the emails addresses should they be suspicious.

On the FBI website after they re-direct to a Spam or Virus information site, they say to contact local Police Dept. which I did the day I posted this. They have not replied yet. The UN never sent a reply other than a form letter. Thanks, I was concerned because I had FBI or someone intersect a phone call (I made to a dept store) asking the location concerning a distant relative that had lived with us at one time, years before.

Form address can be tampered to make it appear that the mail came from somewhere else.
