my friend (xstian) felt that he was taking God's protection for granted. so he prayed to God to make him not take it for granted and prayed to see what would happen without God's protection. he then went to the kitchen after his prayer and saw what he described as a demon. he was about 6feet2 and wore black clothing and was wearing a chinese mask which covered his face. after he saw the demon he prayed to God and thanked Him for His protection...

why was the demon wearing a chinese mask?

Was it a vision, or did he really see the demon? If it was real, then it was up to the demon to appear that way, and might have nothing to do with your friend.

Besides the hiddenness of a mask, I think of Chinese theater... the neutral expression a mask can give that hides its intent to help or harm. The mask could represent the supernatural force, or your friend's desire to hide what he does...among other things of course.

I would guess some people would also jump to the conclusion of martial arts, which are not exclusively Japanese.

I also think of the paintings, the Genghis Khan pictures... a fierce unbending warrior, driven about expansion.

Ask your friend if there are any Chinese influences he carries associations about. (Film, food, people, history, entertainment, studies...)

My uncle has seen similar spirits, once he saw a guy with a red ugly face (A god that taoists worship. The spirit that your friend saw appeared in the form of that god.)

Different people will see different things. Evil spirits have also the ability to visit you in any form of appearance, even in the appearance of an angel.

When people wear masks, they are delighting in the ability to appear different than they really are -- stronger, more fearful, more beautiful, more distinct... donning authority or a character.

Masks were sometimes used that way in warfare, frightening off the opposition or making them feel less capable.

Besides being a possible trait of that demon, this is a typical tactic of a demon, decieving in order to weaken our resolve.

People who keep the mask on like his demon did, really enjoy wearing the mask, or feel they need it.

I'm just running through some thoughts that might bring more understanding/meaning of what he saw.

Heron gave a good explanation. I must say that demons can appear in so many different forms. This mask demon most likely does not want to unmask itself. It doesn't want to be exposed or fully identify. But at the same time the mask might be a key to identifying the type of demon one is dealing with. Someone have mentioned already what the mask might represent so may be you can research it. I once saw a demon that came in the form of a Sumo wrestler with the diaper on . It was was a brown bronze color with receding hairline going down into a pony tail. I believe when God allow us to see demons they will appear in a way that will allow us to discerning the type of demonic spirit or stronghold we are dealing with. So demons coming all different shapes and size. They are very diverse.

They try to inflict fear, and they can disguise themselves as many things (I think that's what the mask represents)

Be bold in your faith! God will always protect you, don't fear though.

Two people with the same apparition! What are the odds!

I have a really strange theory I want to run by everyone. I have heard so many stories at CF where a spirit appears but does not threaten. Do you think there's a chance some are scouting out a territory? As in, a new wave of sumos and masked specialists scouting out a region for stronger influence?

I don't expect we'll find anything conclusive, but it might help us know how to pray or approach potential situations.

Wondrous, you think people had vision of the same mask?

I had another one of these dreams last night!

Ahhh I thought I almost forgot !

Well this time there were TWO of them!
One was coming up from the bottom of my street, and one was coming down from the other side!
Still wearing the same chinese masks.

This time they were smaller, like 3ft high. So strange....the sense I'm remembering from the dream was to always be aware... yet like a change was happening that people didn't know about, can't explain.

To heron: That is Very interesting because I live on a terraced row of house, and opposite me is a church, it's not the church I go to, but the one my Mum goes to (it's in connection with the one I go to, but that ain't important) and recently more people are coming there and it is Growing. Even people from the local pubs have come in!

Being smaller, did you feel nervous in a way? It reminded me of the difference between chihuahuas and labradors... the smaller dogs are harder for me to manage because they're out of reach.



Many people have reported seeing demons change in size before them... going from a 4-ft dark blob or human-like form to a 9-ft stance that fills the room... suddenly intimidating and leading the viewer to feel inevitably overpowered.

It's a long-standing military move to come in from two sides, forcing the defensive to split and address two directions.. and you always have to wonder if there is one behind you or hidden somewhere else.

If some of this makes sense, remember that seeing something supernatural is not determining its inevitable takeover. (Things that might happen within the church across the street... or something else.) It's a glimpse for preparation.

This is the opportunity to fend rotten ghoulies off -- with prayer, fasting, and audible commands.

Wow!

I have found that even in the best churches, things can go horribly wrong if members and leaders don't keep their guard up. No one is exempt from attacks, no matter how spiritual they are. The attacks just have a sneakier way of slipping in the door.

Huh, I'm wondering if these arn't territorial evil spirits appearing to deceive & frighten. Interesting that they changed in height. I've not heard this bfore that's new to me.

I noticed one thing. The demon got smaller, not bigger. I think that is a good thing. It could be that the Lord is showing his power here in the life of the person who is resisting these demons - they will decrease in size in our lives as we resist Satan, flee temptation and draw near to God. I saw the size change as a sign of encouragement.

Also it could be that the Lord allows us to see our "demons" as big at first but then as we call on him in faith he shows us what size they really are and that they are not as big as we act like they are.

Another person had a dream about a worm being coughed out of her mouth and the worm was skinny (sickly) and had little (insignificant) legs (weakness) and I think the Lord was showing that those "diseases" in our lives that we think are so big are really so small in comparison to his power.

I think this is all about calling on Jesus and seeing things for what they really are so that we do not fear them.
