I was diagnosed as Bipolar II back in October. Before then, I was living my life for myself only with little regard to those around me. My life was a mess and all I wanted some kind of relief. I mistook my inability to listen to God as his having deserted me, so I turned to other means. I self-medicated through alcohol and marijuana and turned to devil worship to spite God for having made me this way. It wasn't until I was arrested for theft that I realized I needed to change. I went to a psychiatrist and was diagnosed and have since been in therapy. I have also been working on living my life in a more Christian manner. I have given up drugs and drinking along with other self-defeating behaviors such as self-mutilation and casual sex. I have so much to learn about Christianity and I am excited to begin.

I am so very happy for you to realize your ways, and then to do something about it!! GOD has been with you right along!! I applaud you!! You are very brave to see fault in yourself. Just remember GOD doesn't see fault in you and you just go on learning as much as you can about HIM.

I was reading your story, and you sound just like I used to be until I gave my heart to God. I started getting into devil worshipping also. Not because I was angry with God, though. Because I was guided that a certain religion was based on nature and was all good. WRONG! Anyway, I got out of that situation, and shortly after found my diagnosis. I kept insisting there was nothing wrong with me, when in fact, I was plenty messed up. Still am, only I don't self-mutilate anymore. Got some scars for plenty of reminders, though. Welcome at CF, welcome as a sister in Christ, welcome as a mentally ill person.
In my youth I also went into the occult because I was angry at God and also because I thought that those voices in my head were evil spirits. It caused me a lot of pain. So I'm glad to hear that you turned from that way.
