Wow, This movie will definately turn a few heads in our community. I thought that it was pretty funny but I tend to have pretty thick skin. Can a movie still be funny if it portrays a few hypocrites that happen to be Christian in a negative light?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought it was great. Mandy Moore makes a great villian-better than the "Mean Girls" in the movie of that name, and more complex.

I thought the movie was really funny and frankly I don't understand what all the fuss is about. The movie demonstrated some good Christian values. What do you guys think?

Hey Bballplayer! I felt the same way you did and had the exact same question! I thought this movie was very funny, but I too am not easily offended. However, I don't think this movie should offend per se but rather open a discourse for discussion about intolerance. The overall message of the movie is the opposite, and I think it is our role as Christians to counteract the stereotypes this movie portrays. That doesn't mean we can't go check out the movie and enjoy it though! It is hilarious!

Remember how upsetting it was when Jewish groups were condeming The Passion before seeing it... Lets practice what we preach and see it before we judge it. At the least you will be an informed source on the controversy.
