I don’t know. Things just seem kinda’ simple to me. I see so many people can’t figure things out but it’s all kinda’ simple.
Let me show you.
In the 1900’s you had Catholic writer GK Chesterton taking on eugenics. Now, I don’t know if you know much about history but eugenics was all the rage. It came after pretty much everyone accepted evolution and all that survival of the fittest stuff. And then some people said, what if I decide I’m the fittest and I make sure the unfit don’t survive. It was just seen as taking control of evolution. It was, they said, the next evolution in evolution. And this seemed like a great idea to a lot of people, especially Germans.
But you had this Catholic writer GK Chesterton standing against it, warning everyone. Now, he’s a Catholic and he says the Church teaches that every life is sacred, fittest or not.
Now, it might’ve seemed confusing because you have all these people loving the idea, the Germans and the Americans especially. All the Ivy League institutions had eugenics clubs it was so popular. The media cheered it on. And then you got just this one guy warning everyone. So, I get being a little confused there but guess what happened. It turned out that the one guy talking up the Church was right.
Wanna’ know how they found out? So along came this other guy. His name was Hitler and he put eugenics into practice. And boy, did he. Dude went to town. And after that, everyone got kinda’ embarrassed about being all into it. It’s like being at the Lord of the Rings convention when you realize everyone’s wearing elf ears and then you wanna’ get the hell out.
So, sometimes, the masses are wrong. Let’s fast forward.
