  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A Kansas-based church that has blamed deaths in Iraq on U.S. tolerance of homosexuality has asked Gov. Christine Gregoire's office to approve a "Santa Claus will take you to hell" message to display among other religious statements in the Capitol's third-floor hallway.
The Westboro Baptist Church's message would be near a Nativity set, three signs mocking atheism, and an atheists' sign that celebrates the winter solstice, while also taking a shot at religion as "myth and superstition" that enslaves minds, all in the state Capitol's third-floor hallway.
The first part of Westboro's proposed message, according to Spokesman-Review reporter Rich Roesler:
"You'd better watch out, get ready to cry, You'd better go hide, I'm telling you why 'cuz Santa Claus will take you to hell. He is your favorite idol, you worship at his feet, but when you stand before your God He won't help you take the heat. So get this fact straight: you're feeling God's hate, Santa's to blame for the economy's fate, Santa Claus will take you to hell."
Westboro Baptist, led by Fred Phelps Sr., has protested at funerals for gays and at military funerals, blaming the nation's tolerance for gays for the loss of U.S. military personnel in Iraq. The actions prompted the Washington Legislature to pass House Bill 1168 in 2007, making it a misdemeanor crime of disorderly conduct to disrupt a funeral or protest within 500 feet of a funeral or funeral procession.

Ah, Fred Phelps and his clan have made an appearance yet again. I'm a little confused about the atheist sign that celebrates the winter solstice. That's something that is celebrated by the Pagans. If an atheist partakes in that celebration they aren't an atheist anymore since they're now recognizing the god and goddess of Paganism.

This move just shows how ill-informed the folks over at Westboro Baptist truly are. Santa will not take you to Hell. Rejection of Christ is what sends a person to Hell. Their message also works off an assumption rather than a fact. They assume that anyone who has anything to do with Santa Claus has turned Santa into an idol. That's simply not true. I wonder if Fred Phelps even knows that there really was a St. Nicholas.

All Fred Phelps is doing is asking the governor to give him license to spread hate and bigotry. That's not the message of Christmas. Phelps could use this season to actually do some good for the body of Christ, and I'm saddened every time I see him doing things that will only drive people further away from Christians.

Although I think getting our children to believe in some fake man in red pants that brings them gifts on the 25th is retarded there isn't anything wrong with it as long as you recognize it's just for fun.

But going to hell? Woah!

:waaah:

I'm offended. I am calling the pc police.;)

I can't say I'm surprised to see Phelp's doing something like this since the situation become a 3 ring circus out in Washington state.
this is what happens when you lose your foundation as a country.
As people came into the country with their religions, we ditched ours
so as not to "offend" them...

Now the USA is forced to kick ALL religion out or cater to ALL others
in every seasonal display...
it's inevitable the more they rant & whine.

This country has lost its identity - and this is just the beginning

Yeah, that kind of supports the argument for a state religion. I hate to admit it, but I feel more secure about the sanctity and preservation of Christianity in the UK than in the US because it's protected by law as should be the case in the US, but we all know how that's playing out.

I would not like the idea of a state religion in the US, because yeah, it would not be Catholic, so I would not be too hot for me. Not that it would matter too much as long as it was some mainstream form of Christianity, something orthodox, it would be cool, but I would not feel comfrotable

First of all the US was never Christian to begin with. I'm glad its not, state religion is a poison to Christianity. I like the US how it is or how it was intended to be, freedom to believe what ever you want. Forcing it down peoples throats only makes people fake it.

I would have to say that this nut ball does not represent the Christian population. He is no more then a cult leader, portraying his own beliefs on the people and not what the Word of God says at all. Anyone who would trample on the death of a person, because of there own beliefs is a sick individual.
