Sandwich fillings?

Just got myself a cheese, tomato and chutney sandwich, brown home-made bread. Quite nice, but a bit unexciting.

I do run out of imaginative ideas, anyone got any favourites to share?

Fraid not, Susana. I may have imagination in other areas, but when it comes to food - plain Jane, that's me.

Lots of favourites, Marmite, egg and cress. pork and stuffing, chicken and mayonnaise, cheeses and ham, but nothing exciting.

Maybe when I go to America I'll see some new ones - my husband said when he was in California the chioces were mind-boggling.

Hey Susana...
One of my favorites is plain ol' grilled chesse...some choices over here are also, peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter and sliced banana, bacon, lettuce and tomato, grilled bacon, tomato and cheese, tuna fish salad, and one of my favorites is basil leaves with smoked cheddar cheese and rotesserie chicken and spicy honey mustard...Mmm Mmm

Toast some bread on one side, turn it over and smoother the non-toasted side with tomato puree, mixed herb and cheese, then put back under the grill - Pizza Toast!

Are you serious? You've never heard of peanut butter and jelly?

This country probably sends more kids off to school with PB and J sandwiches than anything else. Try it....white bread, nice smear of peanut butter on one piece of bread and nice smear of grape jelly on the other. I also like it with strawberry jelly.....

I don't even know what marmite is...sounds like grub worm paste or sum'n!

Peanut butter and grape jelly on white bread (sliced diagonally by Mom) is the official food of children everywhere in the United States. However, for some reason, my two (wonderful) children insist on calling it Jelly & Peanut butter sandwiches. (I blame their mother...). I prefer chunky myself.

Marmite is a spread made with yeast. It is black in colour and very strong tasting.

Okay, just did a google search on marmite...so now I know what it is...just like the Brits to figure out how to make a sandwich spread from ale leftovers....

Get them kids hooked at an early age!!

My personal favorite is fresh mozarella, sliced tomatoes and pesto on a crusty roll. I tried adding grilled chicken to it once, but it just wasn't the same!!

Down here in the South, it's good ol' fried bologna sandwiches. But my favorite is white bread with mayo, swiss cheese, and vienna sausages.

I personally love a good chicken salad sandwich with lots of celery, spicy mustard, miracle whip salad dressing and big ole pickle.

I'm surprised no one has brought up a fluffernutter. It's peanutbutter and marshmallow fluff.

I got this artichoke parmesan spread that works great as a mayonnaise substitute on a turkey or ham sandwich, or just by itself on a nice piece of toast.
