Apparently there was a rumor going around that Sam Pipim had left the SDA church to join an independent ministry.

This letter was sent in response to an individual who was inquiring about it. Please not the attacks against Liberals peppered throughout this fine written example of intolerance:

Regarding your question, there’s absolutely no truth in the rumor. It is the latest liberal propaganda. I’m still the Director of Public Campus Ministries for the Michigan Conference. I also direct CAMPUS (Center for Adventist Ministry to Public University Students), which was established in 1999 to train young people to be effective leaders on secular university campuses. By the grace of God our ministry continues to grow and have a tremendous impact on secular university students, young professionals and youth in North America and around the world. Let me briefly explain why some are trying to misinform people about me.

It is generally recognized that Michigan Conference Public Campus Ministries department currently runs one of the most credible and successful secular campus ministries in the North American Division. CAMPUS has an established and proven approach to Adventist secular campus ministry, and its personnel, programs and training events (such as retreats, missionary training program, l.e.a.d.s., and ExCEL) continue to attract and impact hundreds of young people—including those outside of Michigan (www.campushope.org). One example is the exponential growth of GYC, which was birthed through our secular campus ministries (check it out: www.gycweb.org). Because our Bible-based, life-transforming, and mission-driven approach challenges much of the liberal models and because our’s is having a huge impact, my liberal critics are doing everything possible to misinform people about our ministry. It is their way of deflecting attention from the failures of their own models of youth ministry.

Another reason why my liberal friends are spreading the propaganda is because they cannot effectively respond to my apologetic writings (such as Receiving the Word, Must We Be Silent, and Here We Stand) which reference and vigorously challenge some of the questionable practices being pushed upon the church by influential thought leaders in the church. Although they will not openly admit it, some of them cannot bring themselves to believe that a black African is capable of effectively challenging the arguments that are often advanced in favor of contemporary higher criticism, homosexuality, women’s ordination, church racism, evolution, certain worship styles, church growth methods, etc.—views that are particularly dominant in North America and the industrialized world. Now, because my writings are impacting the thinking of church members around the world, my critics deliberately re-cast my critique of their questionable ideas and practices as a criticism of the church. These liberal critics mistakenly believe that if they are able to undermine my witness through their misinformation, church members will no longer read my books or listen to my sermons and messages which are available on CDs and DVDs. It is partly in response to these kinds of misinformation that I’ve decided to put a number of my published materials on my personal website: www.drpipim.org. (The website also directs visitors to other sites where they can listen to, download, or obtain several of my recorded messages).

Of course, if anyone wants to know the truth about the rumor regarding my current position in the church, they can easily email Michigan Conference or check their website ( www.misda.org). For the record, I’m still the Director of Public Campus Ministries for the Michigan Conference. I hope I’ve clarified the issue for you. Kindly pass it on to anyone who desires to know the truth.

Much regards,

Samuel Koranteng-Pipim, PhD

And some people here cannot figure out why there is a war in this denomination. It shouldn't be too hard to understand given the rhetoric in this letter!

Bring it on Sam. We are ready for the battle to commence.

That's a very nice letter. And there is nothing in it to suggest anything but a war on error. You are obviously for the errors that the letter condemns.

I do think it points out the deep theological divide. But the man has a right to defend himself against false rumors.

Now as to ascribing motives or saying who spread the rumor, that is his own thinking and shows that he does believe there is a war going on.

In any case, I would be interested in learning more about how they are successful in the area of reaching secular students.

No, so says common sense. It's completely ludicrous and offfensive.

Even if one considers these things to be 'sinful' (which they are not in the least), to make that comparison is on par with saying wearing a wedding ring and commiting murder are on the same scale of severity.

Please. My intelligence has been insulted enough. :|
