Monergism books is having a sale. I saw some 40% discounts!
http://www.monergismbooks.com/whatsnew.html

Saved From What? by R. C. Sproul is one I plan on grabbing. For the record, I am not employed by Monergismbooks in any way. Just spreading the news of this sale to those who may be interested. Mods/Admins, feel free to delete the thread if I am overstepping the bounds.

sighhhh,

I wish I could afford some books right now....but with hubby on a strict 40 hour work week with no hope of overtime in the foreseeable future and the fact we are trying to buy a house, books are WAY down the list.....

Too bad the libraries don't actually carry any good reformed or calvinist books.....at least not small town libraries......

I'mblessed -- er, I mean Owen7, have you checked out the book exchange thread in SR? Jon has a good list of books, I listed three. Mine may only appeal to a few folks......

Awww, man! You hit me in my weak spot: books!

Doesn't the Bible condemn believers tempting one another? ;) :D

*Jon starts fervently throwing books into his shopping cart*

Hmm, Dr. Reymond's A New Systematic Theology of the Christian Faith... Monergism says, "Theologically A Covenantal, Presuppositional, Christocentric, Redemptive Historical, Amillennial, Supralapsarian Calvinist. An Excellent Contribution. Highly Recommended!" It also received high praises from J. I. Packer, John Frame, and Roger Nicole! SOLD!!

R.C.'s Scripture Alone!! I've been wanting that. SOLD!!

An Analysis of Herman Wistius's The Economy of Covenants. SOLD!!

An anthology of Geerhardus Vos writings!? SOLD!!

Ahhh, it's a sickness, I tell you. Somebody help. :D

I need more books!

Recently becoming a Calvinist, I've enjoyed R. C. Sproul's books so far, even though I only have two of his books, The Mystery of the Holy Spirit and Faith Alone. I used to hate what Sproul was teaching, but now, after seeing Scripture supporting Calvinism, I could not refuse!
Hey, how would you like to read James M. Boice's and Philip Graham Ryken's The Doctrines of Grace? I have a copy that I've already read. I could mail it to you, if you like. It's perfect for a new Calvinist, like yourself.

Ask them if it's alright. I won't share it with anyone. Well, except the Post Office! ;)

You can send it in a PM or an email, so that no one else can see it.

I just wanted to pass on that the first 200 pages of Reymond's Systematic Theology have been in every way superb. I have yet to find any major points in which I disagreed with him and believe me there were plenty of points on which I was surprised to find his views in line with my own. I can only speak for what I have read, but this book has been phenomenal thus far. I plan to write a review of it for the group when I get done with it (it's hefty: 1000+ pages).

I've seen good reviews on it. I already own an number of Systematics (Calvin's Institutes, Berkof, Dabney, Rushdoony, Chafer [yes I own a few Dispy systematics], and a couple more that I can't recall the names off hand) I may have to get this one too.

Thanks,
Kenith

I am glad that you enjoy Reymond's systematic theology; it's really great and he almost convinced me of a certain doctrine.... (you know which one ;) )

You know what happens to Calvinists that hold out on paedobaptism, right? The Ultra Top Secret Calvinist Conspiracy steals their children away, sprinkle baptizes them, and returns them without the parent's knowledge. Don't let them be baptized again or you'll turn them into Anabaptists!! :D
