  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a special devotion to Saint Joseph. One of the first things perhaps is that he is the patron saint of Fathers. Now, I am of course neither male, nor father, but I have not been blessed with a wonderful father in my earthly life. While I do know that I have a kind heavenly father looking down upon me, I have always been in awe for those men who take up their responsability as a father and find joy in it. I have been lucky enough to know many such men and see how they care for their families.

The parrish in which I became active as a Catholic is the Saint Joseph parrish, though I barely realised that at the time, since everyone spoke of the 'Far West' parrish. Saint Joseph is called upon in case of doubts, and a worrier like me has a lot of them, he's also the patron saint of workers, laborers and a protector for expectant women, families and a patron saint for social justice. (and a lot more)
He is a man that accepted Gods will, and has forgone children of his own to tend to Our Lord. WIth mother Mary he went in search of the child Jesus when it was lost in the temple. He seems to me like a man of meekness, humility and someone who, like "Petite Thérèse" showed his love for the Lord in small, daily loving actions.

As an intercessor, he has been very kind to me, not just in 'giving me what I ask for', but much and much more in giving me more then I dared asking for on the spiritual level. I ask the Lord to let me live according to this model of a person.

Saint Joseph is indeed a wonderful example of fatherhood and self sacrifice. In this age where there are too few fathers (& mothers, too) who fully live up to their parental role, we need to hold him up as an example of what we should all strive to be as parents. He also shows us that we are called to love all children, not just those with whom we share a biological bond. True parenting is an act of love, not genetics.

I have, but have not been able to find the beads here.
faerieeva,
It's been a few days since you started this thread, but I thought that I would let you know that the Rosary in Honor of St. Joseph is prayed on regular rosary beads.
Rosary in Honor of St. Joseph

This can be said with a regular rosary. Instead of the Hail Mary say the Hail Joseph:

Hail, Holy Joseph, spouse of the ever virgin Mary, foster father of God the Son, whom our Father in Heaven chose to be head of the Holy Family, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Joyful Mysteries:

1. The Annunciation of Joseph
2. The birth of Jesus
3. The Circumcision and Naming of Jesus
4. The Presentation of the baby Jesus in the Temple
5. The finding of the boy Jesus in the Temple

Sorrowful Mysteries: 1. Joseph's spouse Mary is found to be with child
2. The journey to Bethlehem
3. Joseph flees to Egypt with Mary and Jesus
4. Jesus is lost in Jerusalem
5. The death of Joseph

Glorious Mysteries:

1. The Glorification of St. Joseph
2. St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church
3. St. Joseph, protector of Families
4. St. Joseph, Patron of the Sick and Suffering
5. St. Joseph, Patron of a Holy Death
