...the good ol fashioned way. A rope, strung over a piece of wood turned into one of the oldest ways of execution.

And, that's what he deserves.

And just to stop the quarrels before they begin;

Exodus 21
12 "Anyone who strikes a man and kills him shall surely be put to death. 13 However, if he does not do it intentionally, but God lets it happen, he is to flee to a place I will designate. 14 But if a man schemes and kills another man deliberately, take him away from my altar and put him to death.

15 "Anyone who attacks [c] his father or his mother must be put to death.
16 "Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death. 17 "Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.

Deuteronomy 19:
21 Show no pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

Jesus condemns/denounces death on people.

You use Scripture from the Old Testament.

I know all Christians follow the teachings of the New Testament,

and not the Old. I don't wish death upon this Man. His judgement of death is not my buisness.

The only remorse I feel for him is that he never knew Christ as his Savior.

As Christians, in my opinion, and what I believe, is that we should not be happy or wish death onto anyone, it is not our place. However, His Word does put us under those in authority over us and if that authoritative body chooses to put someone to death for crimes committed, we should just accept it, but not relish or celebrate in it, and we should pray for him as he is one of our enemies and we are commanded to pray for our enemies.

God will deal with Saddam Hussein in due time way better than we can.

Matthew 5:17-18-
"Don't think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn't come to destroy, but to fulfill. For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished."

amen carrymeaway....why do people insist on pretending that the old testament has no bearing on how we should live our life?

Don't know, but it is a dangerous thinking.
If it were irrelevant to Christians, it would have "passed away", for all old things do.

Good Point, however, if I remember clearly that Jesus still does not allow killing among his people.

But I respect your point of view. And I don't tend to go much further with this thread since I'll be gone from CF for awhile.

All I know is that we should pray the day he gets hanged, because when Sadaam does, usually riots will follow after.

This is not killing, this is the execution of a disgusting criminal; which the power to do so is given by God to the courts.

The sooner he hangs, the less time he has to ask forgiveness or become Christian. The less time we have to evangelize him.
Sorry, but there IS a point of no return. If he showed ANY shred of hope of being converted (LOL, sorry I can't help but laugh at the thought ) then I wouldn't say let him go meet his creator now.

Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man. - Genesis 9:6

Saddam's murders are assaults on the image of God

But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil. - Romans 13:4

It's wrath time for Saddam. As it was for Uday and Qusay.

There is always hope until physical death. The grace of God is available to all.

This is absurd........

So Jesus would echo this line of hateful thinking, is that what your suggesting? Are you a Christian? Do you believe in forgiveness?

Here we are the so-called civilised nations going into a country we had no business in, toppling a leader and turning the country into a complete sectarian state of civil war. We want to establish a democracy over there and one of the first acts we decide to carry out to prove how "civilised" we are is to hang the former dictator.

Well done, once again we have excelled ourselves and set the perfect example

If they are to hang him, then surely he will be a martyr, which could be more fuel to the fire burning in Iraq.

As for Saddam Hussein, when he ruled Iraq, the Christians were more safe then they are now and he even had thousands of Bibles printed and distributed throughout the country. One of his closest party member, Tariq Aziz is a Christian.

Don't interpret the above as that I defend him and his regime.

If one continues to turn Christ away, God will harden his heart. I see this with Saddam, there's no hope for him, and if there was, his death wouldn't stop his salvation. If he's not saved now, before his execution, he will not be saved after.

Besides, they're not gonna let anyone in his cell to "evangelize" to him anyway.

I'd like to use the Old Testament as a guide, but I wouldn't want anyone to accuse me of picking and choosing only the stuff I like. So, is it ok to stone to death rebellious sons or daughters and adulterers and rape victims? Make widow's without a son to marry their brother-in-law, or not allowing people to wear mixed fabrics, eat pork, or shrimp and lobster?
