Really? If one works the flea market one works when its open. There's a farmer's market in my area open only on Saturday. Its the best one too. There's that word. "Sabbatarians".
No one seems to have any real objection to any of the other 9 of the 10 commandments.
It's just that one that seems to stick in everyone's craw.
You do understand that the 4th commandment never was about an official, designated day of worship, I hope? What it is about is taking a day of rest...and not only for yourself, but for those around you.
I suspect that what the whole thing comes down to is really $$$$.
My sister in law, for instance, used to have a booth at the flea market. And Saturday...well, that's a big money day.
And why?
Well, because it is the traditional "day off"...and people like to shop on their day off...
The rich young ruler bad no problems with the law. He was blinded from the call to follow Jesus. It's all about being followers of Christ. The just shall live by faith... the law is not of faith.
Evidence that sabbath is ceromonial and not a moral commandment is a no-brainer except for SDA.
"Shabbat is the most important ritual observance in Judaism. It is the only ritual observance instituted in the Ten Commandments." Judaism 101: Shabbat
I'd say giving unintended meaning to the Bible is a sign of a false prophet. Oh yeah that would be directly contradicting the Bible. The word Sabbath doesn't appear in Genesis. God's rest wasn't periodic. You quote heavily "from you" in that statement instead of from the actual Sabbath Commandment of Ex 20:8-11.
Quoting "you" and ignoring the actual Sabbath commandment might be "necessary" when going out on that limb - but not convincing.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day;therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.
3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
Incredibly obvious to all.
The majority of even pro-sunday scholarship argues for the Sabbath given to mankind in Eden and still applies to all mankind today. As we already saw. #1
And of course God says the Sabbath was "Made for mankind" Mark 2:27.
Directly contradicting the Bible is the work of a false prophet - directly affirming the word of God - is the work of a true prophet.

Dont get it twisted..... 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.CRIB said:It can only make sense that when God first gave the Sabbath it was to men(should I have posted Exo 16:29 to show if God, angels, Adam or men (the Children of Israel) were first to keep the sabbath? Scripture shows when sabbath was made for the children of Israel not for angels or the world.)
That fact should not be confused with God's rest from creating all things. God's rest was not for man, it was clearly because God was finished and therefore ended all His work. (should I have posted Gen 2:3to show why God rested?)
Only for the wicked. I Tim 1:9-10All can put all the spins and twists on it you want to be able to continue in sin and feel good the law has been annulled. Well sleep away in peace now but in the judgment you will have wished you would known that sin is the transgression of the law and here you kept at it merrily!
Many read Paul's writings to make it as they have driven in their stakes of belief. It is clear Paul knew sin had to be overcome in this life!
Ro 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Ro 7:10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Ro 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Ro 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
The law will ever remain to point out the sins we commit.
Take heed!
Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Jas 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Bits from Romans 6:
Ro 6:1 ¶ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Ro 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Ro 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Ro 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Ro 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Ro 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Case closed, The law Remains!

Where is your reference scripture to that ???Notice, that it is the just who live by faith. Now, who is "just" if they are not the ones keeping God's commandments?
You're playing twister of factsWell, of course, Jews see it as "ceremonial". That was what the Lord was trying to correct, when He healed on the Sabbath. He was showing that it is, indeed, a moral commandment. "It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day"
Do keep up, Hun.
As our example in all things Jesus kept the Sabbath,
Lu 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
You might want to peruse these threadsIS God really going to burn us in hell because we didn't rest on a Saturday and because we choose the wrong day to worship him?
That is what most Sabbath debates come down to. Christians dont Love God because they dont go to church on Saturday and do nothing for the rest of the day and we are going to hell for disobeying one of the 10 commandments.
Do Sabbath keepers on here really belive Sunday going Christians are going to the lake of fire for not worshiping God on a Saturday and keeping that day holy?
The issue is keeping the sabbath day holy.
And to answer the question, yes it is a sin. Just as much as breaking any of the other nine is a sin.
Edit: In an attempt to be clearer: Legalism when it comes to the sabbath involves making the sabbath a burden. One is not being legalistic if they inform someone that we have to keep the sabbath. They become legalistic when they make keeping the sabbath a burden.
Say for instance that I told you it was a sin to tie your shoe on the sabbath. Now say Jesus comes along says "You know your shoes untied right?" Your response. "Yes Lord." He then tells you "Tie your shoe, it's ok." Has He just broken the sabbath or has He simply freed you from a burden that wasn't suppose to be there in the first place? Keep that example in mind when you think about the Pharisees and how Jesus dealt with them. It may help.
If you check the statistics of those who claim they keep God's sabbath law. The divorce rate is the same as those who dont believe in God. Their crime rate and drug rate are also neck and neck with those who dont believe in God.IS God really going to burn us in hell because we didn't rest on a Saturday and because we choose the wrong day to worship him?

Yes and that means to you one can not participate on Saturday. You are objecting to working on Saturday. You said more than once one can worship any day and provided an example of miners doing it on Thursday. You are clearly promoting Saturday Sabbath obligation while the Scripture does not. That's why I say it is about $$$. The big objection to the Sabbath law isn't really about what day we ought to worship. Christians ought to worship God every day. Somewhere I read about a group of miners who have their church service on Thursdays...for some reason that's the only time they can all get together. No one is giving them flack for not having church on the Sabbath, whether they think it is Saturday or Sunday.
What the Sabbath law is about is a day of rest from work.
And that means a day of not making money.
Some folks really don't like that....
Like the rich young ruler, they'd rather have $$$ than follow Christ...

Saan, it is not any man's call as to who will burn in the consuming fire of our God.
But let us do take heed as to the depth of what disobedience has done and noting the first sin.
Satan beguiled Eve into thinking that to disobey God surely He would not have her to die. Well she sure went ahead and did eat of the forbidden fruit and now all the posterity of Adam's and hers are sinners bent on disobedience.
Yes Adam knew better but he loved Eve so much he also grabbed of the fruit and did eat.
It now behooves us with the power of the indwelling Christ to embed in our minds souls and hearts to render strict obedience.
He showed us it could be done and Satan threw more at Him than is ever at us. Besides Satan can see if Christ dwells within us and knows where he sees Him dwelling within one that he already is a defeated foe.
Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Col 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Col 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Without Him we can do nothing, He alone is our strength and stay and quickening to sort truth from error, His Spirit of Truth!
Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Mt 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The law can and will never be kept by any man. That's why Jesus was foreordained before the man was created.
By sending His Son, God change the game from righteouness by the law to righteousness by faith in His Son. Take your pick.
We choose to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ rather than those who preach the law. God has already rendered the penalty for sin on Jesus Christ.Choose to do as Eve did and believe Satan that God will not render the penalty of the law for the sin.
That's far from the gospel as we're commanded to believe and understand. The Sabbath is that fourth commandment and He started it with "REMEMBER!" as in His foreknowledge kniw men would be adamant to disregard it for sun worship by instituting the Sunday in it's place!
Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
Yes we know that the ceremonial Sabbaths and laws are past that pointed to Christ the fulfillment and we know also the Solar Seventh Day Holy Sabbath is not past but is eternal recurring every solar seventh day.
Remember this, no other day has God Hallowed and Blest for the day of rest and worship to Him!
The Sunday is the day Satan would implant as he is well known by many to be the Sun God. We know he is also called God of this world and the great majority of the claiming Christian world he has beguiled into disobedience to honoring his day.
Honor God and delight in His Holy Day!
Isa 58:12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
Isa 58:13 ¶ If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
Isa 58:14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Come ye all He invites and be a repairer of the breach in the law, the law of Love of thy God!
