Greetings Jacob,

Even Christians sin, the difference is we do not wish to sin. If you are a follower of Jesus, yes the Holy Ghost can dwell in you. It is so good that your were able to go down on your dosage of methadone. Such a shame you were craving heroin, from what I hear it's hard when you have used drugs before.

I pray that you will be delivered from your drug use. But in the mean time I want you to know that Jesus loves you unconditionally. Sometimes the world makes your addiction seem more of a sin then others, but in God's eyes all sins are the same. This includes addictions to food and other things too and of course all kinds of sins. God sees your heart, He sees that you really want to serve Him and that you love Him. Just do your best until you are free from substance abuse. Don't beat yourself up. He longs for you to know just how much He loves you and that He understands your struggles and He knows just why you have come to this state.

You are not unworthy of His salvation, it is for all who ask, and Jesus makes us worthy. He died for you. If you were the last person on earth, my brother, Jesus would have died for you. The devil is a liar and he is the one telling you that you are unworthy. If we cannot believe Jesus died for our most shameful sins then we are believing He died in vain. And of course he did not die in vain.

I live among people who suffer addictions, mostly alcohol and my heart goes out to them and I have learned about what they suffer. I know that and addiction has a hold on a person and most cannot no matter how hard they try quit. Many need some kind of help. They need first of all God's help. Sometimes they also need help from a doctor, which is sounds like you have had. Some people have had people pray for them and they have been miraculously delivered. I wish all could have that experience. I pray that one day you will be free from drugs.

If you love Jesus you are under HIS sign. No sign that the world claims we were born under has a claim on us. I claim you for GOD, in Jesus name! You are His and He is yours! God formed you in your mother's womb. (Psalm 139) He loves you so much. You are a child of God. You must learn to love yourself as God loves you. Thank the Lord for giving you life. He has a purpose for your life and one day you will see what it is.

I will pray for you Jacob. My heart goes out to you. My friend suffers some of what you do too, he has had a hard time and still does. He wishes to be off his meds. He has explained a lot of how he feels and what he goes through so as best as I can I understand as much as I can without being a victim of drugs. I feel for you!

I suggest joining Narcotics Anonymous. I did, and through that program have been clean for more than 25 years.
