  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi, Can I run a windows 95 or 98 game on my XP Computer? Someone told me along time ago that I could run windows 95, 98 games on a xp computer. I cann't remember how to do it now.

Thanks, Robert.
It depends on the game......

What you may need to do is right click on the shortcut to the game and go to properties and then click on the compatibility tab where you can choose win95/98 compatibility mode......if the game won't install you will have to do the same thing to the setup file on the cd/disk.......

Some game manufacturers have developed patches that enable them to run on XP, so if you find that the game won't install, they'll have a replacement setup.exe or similar file on their website or somewhere else. Usually you'd copy the CD files to your hard drive so you can replace the original file with the amended one.

good grief.. what kind of game are you running? Wolfenstein 3d? Doom? Q-Bert?? lol. I don't know of any games in the last five years that don't run on XP.

However, do the compatibility tab thing if you are having a problem. Also, a neat resource is http://www.gamecopyworld.com/ That might help you out a bit?

Ok, I just tried running the demo from the 3DRealms site, and it worked. I got a score of 17.565 M. lol. Anyways, I have Windows XP Pro, and I did nothing special to make it run. I'm not quite sure where the problem lies in your case.

the game might have been patched - so it's worth going to the company's website to have a look.

I had a program that would create a virtual partition on a currently running system. You could install and run a second OS in the partition. That might do the trick. It's been a a while since I've played around with that stuff though. I'll try to look for it.
