Some people want to live
Within the sound of chapel bells
But I want to run a mission
A yard from the gates of hell

And with everyone you meet
I'll take them the gospel and share it well
And look around you as you hesitate
For another soul just fell, let's run to the battle
Run to the battle

Do you have your armor on?
We're in the middle of a raging war
We've been training for so long
Have we learned to use his sword?

We may not be ready but we serve a mighty lord
And he's made us more than conquerors
So what are you waiting for? Let's run to the battle
We got to run, run to the battle

He has trampled down the enemy
And has given us the victory
When we pray we learn to see that his army
We are marching on our knees

There'll be times when we grow weak
Let's keep our faith alive
Let your faces shine with glory
For he's helped us to survive

And in that final hour when you feel like you're ready to die
Will you hear the trumpet sound
Will you hear the warrior cry, run to the battle
We got to run, run to the battle

Some people want to live
Within the sound of chapel bells
But I want to run a mission
A yard from the gates of hell

And with everyone you meet
I'll take them the gospel and share it well
And look around you as you hesitate
For another soul just fell, let's run to the battle

Run to the battle
Amen to this song, cos we are in a spiritual battle right now. Some of us battle our flesh, while the whole world is battling dark forces. Thank you for introducing me to Steve Camp. Run To The Battle reminds me of Ephesians 6:11-13. Ephesians is one of my favorite non-Gospel books in the Bible. The Pauline books of the Bible in general are well done. I agree with these lyrics wholeheartedly. The war has gotten bigger.

Just as an aside, the intro synth melody to Run To The Battle somewhat remind me of the intro to The Who - Baba O'Riley (a classic secular song from 1971 that seems to be a decade ahead of its time). But maybe that's just me.

Ephesians 6:11-13 (ESV): "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."

I am glad that you like Steve Camp's music. Back in the 80s and 90s, his lyrics were often considered to be the conscience of Christian music.

Thank you. His music is really good, and all of the songs shared so far seem Biblical and God-focused or mission focused, as Christian music should be. Also, I still have to release that Spiritual Warfare devotional, but I have been lazy doing devotionals, cos I had to get Star Trek DS9 done over the past 1.5 weeks or so (just finished yesterday), and now I am a bit lazy and have to find some OT and NT verses about safe travels next for a safe travels devotional. Exodus seems like a good place to start. Got a queue of devotionals lined up, but nothing written for them or started yet.

Pray that I do not become lazy on making those devotionals, cos I do have to get that spiritual warfare one out soon. Also, the science, current events/news and political threads are distracting me from making any posts in the scriptures thread, cos those are fascinating to me. Looks like the only way for me to not get distracted by the news is for me to post less in the news ones over the next week or so.
