Run The Race

After over one hour

Of fruitless scripture reading and prayer

by the shoreline of His majestic beauty,

I gave up and let go of trying so hard to find g_d

Forced readings and prayers fell flat

Too tired to go on with any words past

a few memorized verses, I went blank

a sigh with regret and sense of failure

I got up from the sandy secret spot

and started to walk

forwards into the sand

He spoke to me in the still small place

"Run the race,"

As I looked down and saw all the footprints of

the people who went before me

running their own race

one foot in front of the other

…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith… Hebrews 12:1-2, NKJV
