  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What romantic things have you done for someone? What has someone done for you?

Somehow, I managed to snag the cutest, most romantic man on the planet. Seriously

Today when I came into work at the office (I work as a receptionist/youth intern), I opened my laptop to find a note saying "Sorry, I had to change your password". The new password was my boyfriend's name. It logged in fine, but I had a new background. A picture of my boyfriend that he knows I LOVE, with a caption saying "Just wanted you to know that I love you!!" He works as tech support in the church office with me. Yesterday he left at the same time as me, and went to do nightfill at the supermarket. He finished just before midnight, came back to the office and hi-jacked my computer then!!

He does something adorable every day.... *sigh* I'm so lucky.

I'd love to hear some more romantic stories...

-He drove 12 hours straight to my house to surprise me that he was moving back to our home town after moving 3 states away to help his sister. When he moved there it was indefinate whether he would even come back at all.

-He stopped by my work one day handed me a small box gave me a kiss on the cheek said, "Just because I wanted to." and left before I could say anything. The box had diamond earings in it.

These are just two of the bigger romantic things he's done.

Awww, you ladies have sweet sweet men.

I'd say my boy isn't the most romantic boy in the world, but he's always doing little sweet and thoughtful things. Like the other day he surprised me with a delicious homemade lunch at work. And another time he burned me a cd with songs I love... little things like that really make my day.

In a bid to celebrate my upcoming birthday, he swept me away on a surprise hot-air balloon trip in Napa Valley this past Sunday. There was even a complementary champagne breakfast after that.

All he told me before was that we were supposed to reach a place at 5.30am, and he asked me to bring a jacket in case it got cold. I thought he was bringing me on a breakfast cruise to watch the sunrise.. wrong guess.

Attached is a picture of the balloon we were on.

I had a cold once, but he let me come up to his dorm room and made hot lemonade with honey. That was nice. I was also soaked to the bone after a ski trip once and he let me wear his extra athletic pants and socks on the way home.

Well mine isn't romantic... he just does nice things. To me, that's romantic enough. Are you thinking flowers-surprise gifts-candlelight dinners-romantic? That's a little different.

Don't drop hints that are too subtle... they're men, after all. Just suggest some things that you think are romantic, and maybe he'll come up with some of his own ideas.

Case in point:

Me: Oooh pretty flower.
Boyfriend: *oblivious*

(later)

Me: Oooh pretty flower. PICK IT FOR ME!
Boyfriend: *picks flower and puts it in my hair*

Subtleness doesn't produce good results. Just get the ball rolling and he'll probably continue from there.

he just made me melt the other day when he said this about our relationship, "if this doesn't work i'm going to be really ****ed off"
i mean, how romantic is that?

also, my ankle was sore after a run thursday and he told me how to do some exercises to make it feel better. a combination of rotating and flexing.
i felt so loved.

seriously, though, this one is romantic:
he kissed the phone for me.
(we're in a LDR and can't kiss in-real-life)

My girlfriend wrote me an incredibly touching poem on Valentine's Day. Some of the reasons are situational for our lives, but in short, what she wrote made me feel really good about myself, and gave me a huge boost in self esteem in just one night. She told me its what I do for her just by being me, so... yeah. She may not have the power to do some of the things you ladies in here have done, but boy does she ever make up for it with her way of hitting me right here*taps heart* in just one sentence.

I took her to watch the sun set at the lake once. She lost interest in it and took interest in my lips, if you catch my drift, though. Not that I minded at all. Umm... I dunno, really. I know I've tried over and over again to be nice and "romantic" and figure out little ways to be extra nice every chance I get, but its too late for me to think of any really good examples.

You'd think guys would learn after a while that girls tend to be more affectionate in the way that guys want when the guys do stereotypically "romantic" things for the girls. I'm not justifying that sort of behavior on the part of girls; I'm just noting that's how many girls are. One would think it would be worth their while as guys to learn to put a little effort into learning to be "romantic" to get what they want, but most of them seem clueless... just ask their wives.

When I was 16 and my (now fiance) was 15, he came to Oklahoma (where I used to live) from Michigan with his dad to see me. He payed 200 dollars for a babysitter for his siblings back home so he could go see me. He also took me to the most amazing resturant I've ever been to. It was on the 19th floor of a building in OKC and it rotated! The food was wonderful, and they even had a dance floor...he asked me to dance We also got dressed up to go out that night as well Ended up staying out till almost 2am!
The next day we went to an amusement park, and he bought me a necklace that had a kernal of rice in a tube of water, the rice had Clint Loves Maria written on it!

The following thanksgiving, I spent it with him and his family...when I left, he went with me to Chicago on the train, and before I got on the train back home...he put his class ring on my finger and proposed! Wed made it offical this past Janruary!

My guy (well, he was my guy and...well, now he's my best friend...or maybe he's my guy and my best friend.. We're in an strange stage.)

Anyway... He does sweet stuff all the time. His pet names for me are sweet heart and beautiful. When a guy calls you beautiful to catch your attention, it makes you blush.
He always leaves really sweet notes on my computer before I come to work and leaves short cuts to really sweet love songs.
He just leaves flowers on my desk for absolutely no reason.
When I graduated high school last year, he took me to a really nice theater to see the play Peter Pan. It's a childhood favorite of mine. He was so sweet. The night was perfect and he made me feel so special.

I am involved with a woman who coaches a baseball team that her youngest son plays on. This last weekend they had a tournament, I wanted to come watch but, her ex-husband was going to be there to assist and watch his son play. He and I don't really get along so she thought it would be a bad idea for me to be there. So I sat here trying to think of a way that I could show my support anyway and it came to me. Where they were going to be playing was a field I use to take her kids to to fly kytes. So I took my bike and rode to the field two over and started flying my kyte, hoping she would see it and later ask me if it was me, I just wanted her to know that I was close and thinking of her irregardless of the fact that she didn't want there to be an issue with her ex-husband and I. Not only did she see my kyte, she apparently had sat at the top of the bleachers for some reason and could hear it, on a windy day, 200 ft away, she looked, and said, "No, it can't be..." so she drove over and sure enough, there I was... She was stressing out over having to spend the whole weekend with her Ex, almost to the point it was making her sick. Seeing me up at the other field lit up her heart, I completely made the rest of her afternoon a happier one. "You drove clear accross town on your bike, just to let me know you were thinking about me?" "That is the coolest thing anyone has ever done for me" I just wanted her to cheer up, like I said, she was really stressing over the fact that I couldn't be around, because he would have made an issue about me being there.
