  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, you should be able to see Paul was talking about God's judgement in Romans 1:18-32

In Romans 2 he was telling people who were judging others they had no right to do so. That is because everyone of us is guilty of sin Romans 3:9-20.

The word judgment is a legal term. A judge makes a decision on guilt or innocence, and further accountability. The judge declares public service, prison time, bail, and freedom.

Rom 2:1- "In that in which you judge the other, you condemn yourself; for you, those judging, practice the same things."

We could loosely say that means we shouldn't judge, but it's really giving more of a message of "remove the log in your own eye before complaining about the thorn in another's." It was meant for self-examination.

Paul's list was a well-known list that every good Jew already knew, from the laws of Moses. It was a guide for life..the laws that the community abided by.

If you have had friends who were abused or had alcoholic parents, look at the harm that was done. Look at the potential these kids had for a better life, that was stunted by an adult's selfishness.

Look at friends with STD's -- these came from people who probably knew they were contagious, and went ahead spreading disease anyway, in the name of love.

The law protected people from harm. Thieves steal from other people. Slanderers ruin others' reputations and opportunities.

The Bible does not ask believers to be blind to the offenses around them.
