Have you ever played? I'm playing with a bunch of friends, and I apparently fail at all things Rock Band.

I'll take Guitar Hero over this mess anyday. I'm a GH pro, haha

I used to PWN at that game!!!!!
Okay, not really... I could only play on Hard for about half the song list... but.... I thought I was good at least.
"Welcome Home" by Coheed and Cambria and "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden were my jams.

I completely suck at Guitar Hero, though. Which is why I got Rock Band. The drums were much easier.

Except for that blasted kick drum pedal!! Whoever designed that thing fails at life!!

I can do the singing, and that's it. The drums...well, it's BAD, haha.

I assumed that my GH skills would help me out with the guitar. It looks exactly the same, but no. Defintely not.

Oh, and I love "Black Hole Sun"!

Playing that game actually helped me when it came to real drums. At least as far as holding a beat and stuff goes.

But now it's hard to go back to the game. Those stupid drum pads have absolutely NO rebound at ALL!! I'm surprised I didn't end up with carpel tunnel.

I was actually rocking out on Rock Band 2 earlier today.

I use to only play the guitar/base on it (which I can only play on easy due to a learning disability I have *shakes fist), but recently I've started trying to drum on it, and I can do that semi decently.

What I *love* doing on it though is singing (and I use that term loosely, as I'm no singer haha, despite my wishes to be one ). At one point, my friends from church essientially made me sing when were playing (the song was 'That's What You Get' by Paramore lol), and I haven't stopped since, it's such an utter blast to do, especially when you get really into it

"That's What You Get" is the only song I can almost play all the way through on REAL drums!!

And then I tried to play it on Rock Band. It was surprisingly harder. And waaaaaaay different.

I then stopped playing the games all-together. I think they complicate the beats more than necessary.

I think it's easier to play a real instrument than these games. I never can seem to get the hang of them.

They sometimes add things un-neccessarily, but don't stop playing all together , they're awesome to play when you have two or more people over, it's good fun haha.

I have GH for PS2, and I only have the guitar for that. I've thought about getting the whole set for PS3, but it's kind of expensive, and I shouldn't be spending my money on such frivolous things right now.

I do enjoy both games, but I think Rock Band is more tasteful. I kind of feel like I'm on the hellivator when I play Guitar Hero and see pentagrams on the note board.

I can't do it. My hands automatically try to play the controllers like real instruments, and I can't stop them. Muscle memory is like an embouchure - once you develop it so far, you can't retrain it to play a different instrument. Real guitars and video game guitars are too different for me.

This conversation reminds me of the video of Rush trying to play their hit song Tom Sawyer on Rock Band, and epically failing at it.

I tried Rock Band for awhile last year, and made an art form out of failing at the drums.

I'm awful at it and at guitar hero. I can't play the drums on there at all and I struggle with the guitar on easy, my fingers just can't stay where they should. I do fine at the singing part but I sing too quietly for the mic to register all the time, I'm right on when it does. My fiance and I have talked about getting it though, he likes playing, I suppose it would give me a change to practice.
