• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Actually, my disgust runs deep for Manning. I just don't like the guy at all.

I'm too close to Chicago to not feel the intense pull. Their success is definately due to their defense, and eventually, they will collapse. The offense failing to deliver will do them in. And I'm pretty confident that it WILL fail to deliver the rest of this year.

I don't know. Their running game is solid, and the return of Grossman could be a spark. Actually, the Bears are my #2 team, but my heart won't break if they crumble.

I hope my others posts about this haven't come across as rude, but college football really has me down this year (that's right, Purdue WAS ranked #10 after Week 3). All in good fun.
I always feel bad because I don't pay enough attention to college football.

I hate UGA and I like Georgia Tech...that's...about it.

You don't have to praise them. What I was saying is that if the tabels were turned, and the groups were rallying for Bush, or rallying against, let's say Kerry or Gore or whoever in 2008, you wouldn't complain about them at all. You talk about these groups whining, but that's ALL you people have been doing this entire thread. Whining.

You can dislike whatever you want. You make it sound like I'm trying to force you to do something or not to do something. No, what I'm doing is calling you down for a blatant bias. I really couldn't care less what you yourself think about Band A or Band B.

You say it doesn't make a point, but what point are you making here by talking about them? Either you realize you aren't making a point either, or you realize that free expression isn't always about having a "point". You're doing the exact same thing those bands are doing.

1) You attack their music simply because of their political views. Certainly you can be mature enough to acknowledge that political views have nothing to do with music quality?
2) Or they actually try to get a message across. Sure it's a subjective message. So is yours. Are you NOT inflating your ego by complaining in these forums, rather than out on some stage somewhere? You're more egotistic than they are, with your "forceful but funny" speech".
3) Considering that they play several hundred free concerts while they're doing their little politiking, I would say that the whole "money" argument is a bit specious.

Sure I'm confrontational about this. This thread was a bunch of people talking about politics for no real reason in a music forum, veering way off the initial subject, and then patting each other on the back because they all had the exact same opinion.

But I don't want to waste a music forum on a political debate. If you feel the need to continue this, we'll do it in PMs.

Not necessarily. There is a time and place for protesting, but on the whole, I find protesting (particularly about politics) annoying.

Also, I have the same disdain for pro-life pickets as I do for pro-choice demonstrations.

Well, no offense, but the music forum isn't really kicking too much; and I don't much think anyone has to waste their time. They can simply not read this thread?

Once again, however, you're making assumptions about me that you can neither prove nor back up. I would not ROCK AGAINST CLINTON, nor would I ROCK AGAINST KERRY. I just prefer to rock.

Posting that I thought that bands that rock against stuff is a joke and defending myself against your far-reaching hypothetical comments (which somehow incorporated my love for Christian rock and Bono) seems to be rational, as opposed to egocentric. But think what you will...you obviously don't let considerate thought bog you down.

I never once said that their music was bad because they were participating in such events...often, their music is bad in and of itself. I'm attacking them for being lame. But I shall leave it at that.

PS - Some assets are not immediately monetary.

Curses! Superbowl predictions anyone?

I'm biased (of course), but I'd love to see the Colts vs. the Giants. It's a good possibility too, since they are possibly the premiere teams in their respective conferences. I'm terrible with predictions though, so I doubt either team will make it.

It's all about the NFC North, and the Bears.

Correction. It's all about the NFC East (again, finally) My Cowboys are sneaking up on just about every team they play- except for those damn Seahawks! I predict Dallas goes 11-5 and loses a divisional playoff game against...Seattle.

He'd be better than Bush. And I voted for Bush. Twice. What was I thinking?

You know, the OP is funny, in a sad way. I mean, somewhere in the back of his mind, he's wrestling with the possibility that disagreeing with the Republican Party could be a sin. It makes me laugh, cry, and trigger my gag reflex, all at the same time...

Here's to hoping they can win their final two games and take the top spot in the Big 10!

Yeah, I'm very happy to see Joe Pa. return to glory. I actually cheered for them against Purdue Saturday. They were one second away from being undefeated (Damn Michigan!). Robinson is a C-H-A-M-P.
