The concept of "debate" in US politics is well past its use-by date. I mean, we are at the point where the OP thinks Chis Wallace is biased towards democrats, or the fact that the same networks have been sponsoring/hosting since 1960, so it took the RNC 60 years to get "fed up".

For those of us who are old enough to remember debates in high school and I hope that includes people younger than I, the moderator was not the point. If in fact you relied on the moderators decisions, you were deemed to have lost as you had not argued your point.

Chris Wallace is a registered Democrat.

According to the District of Columbia Board of Elections Voter Registration Status, Wallace is a registered Democrat. He registered back in 1984 under the full name Christopher Wallace.
Is Chris Wallace a Democrat or a Republican? What Are His Politics?

All of these networks except for one lean left in one degree or another.

Doesn't mean he's unprofessionally biased towards them, nor does it explain why the RNC is suddenly upset about a 60 year history. The only argument that does hold is that the US is no longer capable of civil discourse in this area.

Honestly, can you find one thread on this board around a democrat decision in which the word "marxist" is not mentioned? It's ridiculous. They same holds true around republican "discussion"

One of the few conservatives on this board whose opinion I used to respect recently described Nancy Pelosi as "far left". I mean seriously.

It is possible this is a new (within the last decade or so) problem. The discourse has gotten worse. I don't remember Republicans routinely being called racist bigots simply for not agreeing with a person of color on the left. Or even just because they are a Republican.

I don't think it's surprising that the RNC has done this. But not for the reasons given. I suspect it has more to do with the hope that Trump runs again in 2024.

Trump reportedly couldn't get through a largely friendly interview with Piers Morgan without blowing up. This week. He reportedly threatened to walked out half way through, after his claims about the 2020 election were challenged.

For a man who has been deposed so many time, responding to adversarial questioning is really not his strong suit....

Exactly. The entire argument has moved to an us and them where there are actual conversations around one or the other side being treasonous and deserving of the death penalty. There's only one slight difference I can see, republicans get framed individually (he's a nazi, she supports slavery) where democratcs get framed as a group (that's a marxist agenda, they want to force your wives to marry transgender lesbians)

It didn't happen in the past, and it's not happening now.

apparently they finally had enough of the commission picking moderators that blatantly biased towards the Democrats

We all know what this is really about. Someone can’t handle a debate.

It is not the decision that has been the problem it is the editorial, or starting a debate with a question that has nothing to do with the debate but is designed to disparage the candidate. Or providing all the debate questions to a candidate in advance of the debate.

Disagreement? Is that what it was when a GOP official called Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré "nothing more than dirty, stinking [N-words]" last week? It was a disagreement about Defense Department policies?
