  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My 8 year old daughter's Rite of Election was celebrated here..

http://www.olacathedral.org/

The Archbishop of Los Angeles, Cardinal Mahony presided. The regional Bishops from the surrounding counties also attended.

After gathering in the Cathedral the catechumens were presented to Cardinal Mahony asking that they be allowed to participate in the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and the eucharist.
Near the end, the Cardinal declares them "to be members of the elect, to be initiated into the sacred mysteries at the next easter Vigil."

One more step and my daughter will be a full member of the Catholic Church.
Just wanted to share. :)

My wife and I got to meet the Bishop after standing in a long line. I got a pic but I need to develop and scan it.

Here is some good info on the Rite of Election for those interested, as well as general RCIA info:

Congratulations Chris.
Will you be receiving your Sacraments at Easter Vigil this year?

humblejoe?? Why weren't you presented? I'm sorry if I'm prying. :(

Well I didn't feel ready. I didn't feel like I was ready to take the sacraments. I know a lot about the sacraments intellectually, but I'm having a hard time with them in my heart. I don't understand how some of that stuff can work. And I'm scared of some of the stuff. I'm also afraid of what my family would say if I converted. Oh well... :sigh: I wish it wasn't so hard. :(
