Unfortunately, I've fallen into a specific pattern that has been ongoing, and I can't determine specifically for how long it has been going on: (this is a tentative description)

- Not taking the Eucharist because I don't feel that I should
- Asking the priest after Mass if he can hear my confession
- Feeling truly saved for about 12 to 24 hours
- Doing some sheet again that makes me feel that I shouldn't get the Eucharist
- Not taking the Eucharist at Mass, again (Step 1)
- Asking the priest for confession, after Mass, again (Step 2)
- Feeling truly saved for two days or so (Step 3)
- Missing Mass (whether it's in my control or not, depends)
- Repeat all the steps above until (and including) Missing Mass, and keep repeating the cycle

Note: I try to go to Confession in between Mass days, I get lazy and don't do it.

I'm losing the mental motivation to do well anymore in this. I don't think it's going to improve, only worsen. I'm really sick of it all, I'm so sorry. (Not trying to be melodramatic here, however)

Most of us have had to confess things multiple times. That is not a reason not to confess them, even again and again.

I know. The thing is for me, is that when I confessed in the past (rather recent past, too), I had more determination that I'd stop the sin. Now, it's almost bordering on the sin of presumption in the sense that I'm becoming indifferent to the sin and saying I'll confess it later. I hope this is just a temporary thing because it's not fun.

I get it. Been there even. We have to stick it into first gear and be willing to make even the slightest progress. There are sinners who repent of their sins and they never do them again. I'm not one of those. But over long hauls I have had some real victories over sin. The grace provided in the confessional is real. When we open ourselves to cooperate with it we move at least a tiny bit in the right direction even if subjectively we seem to have gone backwards. God is sculpting you into something beautiful.

I'm hesitant to post this but I will anyway. I think my brain is officially devolving into some mush of apathy in which I'm not caring to go into confession anymore if I know that a couple days later, I won't be able to go Mass, given the situation around here. It's terrible. I don't want this to be true.

Living in a chronically stressful situation for a long time ...
where survival and avoiding conflict is necessarily the main focus ...
will eventually result in feelings of apathy towards other areas in one's life.
So what you're experiencing sounds very normal, given your current lifestyle situation.

When the situation there gets better for you, your enthusiasm for life should gradually return.
In Christ, it is possible.

Read the Bible. Pray and confess your sins to God. Repent. Then, they’re forgotten.

From listening to some priests...
Find the origin of 'trauma' against the Church and pray for healing.
Pray the Rosary daily and ask all of Heaven to pray for your intentions.

Peace.

Seems you have triggers of scrupulosity.
Trust the Lord.

He's not an ogre and have faith He will heal these triggers from something you were told or told yourself...
Not good enough, cannot hope to be.

This may even stem from your fathers core beliefs of Islam.
In Islam they are not about the Love and Mercy of the Lord...

You think you battle alone.
When thoughts come, pray and even sing or say Thank you Lord.
Talk to the Holy Spirit within you... through Jesus to set things right and He knows what the heart wants to pray despite
not knowing ourselves. So ask Him to Advocate on your behalf for healing.

The Bible aka canon was chosen by the Church.
Because of the thousands of writings the Holy Spirit was promised to the Church.
The Apostles successors [teachers] continued that same authority to know and chose correct writings.

The dead sea scrolls written while Jesus was walking the earth... contain all the books that Protestants threw out that Jesus quoted and the Epistles quoted.

For a Catholic answer.

I mean... since you came in,,, figured a lil history understanding the Bible is important.

warriorAngel, I didn’t want to offend you. I didn’t know it was dedicated to Catholics. But let me tell you that I was a catholic for the most part of my life. My whole family is. I remember when I was at church the priest quoting from the Bible. I volunteer at a christian bookstore and we sell Bibles to the catholics. So what are you telling me? Just explain please. is the canon the same thing for you as the Bible? I was a little girl and I prayed before going to bed. For me, praying is natural. I do it quite often during the day. That’s why I suggested it and added a priest wasn’t necessary in that case

Former Catholic 'splains it all to us. Uh huh. Former Catholic who might have remained Catholic if former Catholic knew a bit more about Catholic teaching before former Catholic departed. Perhaps not your fault, if you were never well catechized in the first place. Nonetheless this is a forum for Catholics and their guests. Former Catholics coming in to 'enlighten' us poor benighted Catholics can mind their 'p's and 'q's. Thank you. By the way I don't intend to offend or insult you as you obviously were trying to be helpful.

Maybe you should learn what the Church teaches.

She needs to confess to a priest.
Seems like poster doesn’t understand the sacrament. She’s Protestant and is only a guest here.
