Women who'd accept a ring pop proposal FTW!

Not that I plan to propose with candy, but I'd rather be with someone who thinks it's cute than one who demands expensive things. The way I see it, the sentiment is more important than the ring itself.

LOL! What a situation.

I see no problem with him offering me a $2 ring pop And especially me because I love candy and ring pops are just a reminder of my childhood. So I'd be fine, however I do have two situations in which I'd worry just a tad.

1. If he is the love of my life GREAT! However, am I the love of his? Am I just smitten with this guy who is now joking and giving me a fake engagement ring pop as an April fools joke? Were "friendzone" bowling together and he bought it and gave it in hopes of getting a good laugh?

2. Secondly, does the engagement still hold if I eat it? Or is it some type of candy timer? We're engaged for as many licks as it takes you to get to the centre, type dealio.

3. What colour is this ring pop? And if it's an orange... I think not.

They say the ring should be a certain percentage of what you make. If my tabulations are correct, a ring pop would be what I am in the market for anyway.

Bull crap. No, I'm not disputing what you're saying, but rather it bugs me that there seem to be actual 'guidelines' to what a guy should spend on the ring. What if this 'certain percentage' is still too much for him to spend? It's nobody's business what he spends. And frankly, I think the bride should be grateful she's getting a ring at all...how 'bout them apples?

Let's see now. Get a beautiful and expensive ring and be living in a van down by the river, or get a ring that's just as beautiful but within his budget and begin our marriage debt free?

I'll take the debt free marriage. Thanks.

actually the van and debt are part of the ring pop proposal. (if she want's lakefront property, that's her choice)

I'll buy a real ring in a style that she likes, but the cost won't reflect an arbitrary percentage of my income. If she demands that I spend a certain amount, then I'd be concerned about how she handles money. Is she a gold digger or spendthrift? Does she love me for me, or is she in it for the trinkets? In fact, I might jokingly mention the ring pop idea to see how she reacts. In a way, it's both idealistic and practical. Idealistic in terms of the relationship being built on love rather than shiny material goods, and practical in terms of all the other things we could do with the money... regardless of how much we have. I like to think that the woman I eventually marry won't care about how much I spend.

I'd say yes and love him all the more. I don't need an expensive ring (and I wouldn't want a guy to spend a ton of money on a ring, its the thought that counts) and I'd appreciate his nonconformism.

This sounds kind of cute, but in reality, I don't think it's a good idea. I don't want an expensive ring, but I do want people to believe that I actually got engaged. I'm not going to come home and show my parents a ring pop.

Having a ring for a planned proposal is good, but if it's spontaneous no ring needed. I would want some kind of ring at some point before marriage, but it doesn't have to be expensive or conventional. A silver band, hand me down ring, what have you. A man I love is all the wealth I need.

Yes.

Would I appreciate being proposed to with a ring pop? No. It's not my thing and I would be a little disappointed that he didn't know that about me.

I don't want a ring with real stones in them, fake is actually preferable to me just because I don't need to stress about losing it but I do want a ring and I would want it at the moment of being engaged because I feel there is something special about that symbol of your commitment to each other.

That is not to say there isn't a place for a ring pop in the process. I plan on doing this:

Its a box with a ring pop in it and written on the inside is a note that says

"Now its my turn to pop the question...
Will you be my bridesmaid?"

Oh I've seen that! I love it! I would so be up for doing that too! Although I would have to mail mine as three of the four people I'd pick don't live in the area.
