I for 1 have volunt4eered at many institutions where the staff treat them like funiture. I felt thelove of Jesus in them all. Such a blessing to know they have gave me a purpose in my life. To thank GOD for all HE has done for us . Truly these are the meek who shall inherit the earth praise GOd for that. AMEN

The book says that each person individually can recognize or discover God's purpose for their lives...

Those who are profoundly disabled are not cognitively aware of their purpose.... that is my point... Of course caretakers can discover or come up with a reason why those they care for exist...

Is the person who has no measurable IQ, and requires 24/7 care aware of their purpose? I would say they are not....

Says who? A person who is severely mentally handicapped can be grateful towards the person who offers care and mercy.

They have a different level of awareness.

Yes Our Lord receives them - Because He Is Merciful and Kind. For they don't know to even do any evil.....though they have sin in them.....but God gives more Grace and Mercy to them for they know not what to do in removing the enemies from off their land. Grace = Merited favour... or unmerited favour???

And I was of the impression that God saves a person by unmerited favour through faith that is not produced from our will and that our works have nothing to do with the it all, as it would give us reason to boast.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:8-10)

A composition I wrote today.

What we should treasure

-Argument

Treasures are usually viewed as materialistic objects that appeal to the sensations in such a pleasurable way as to be rendered according to the judgement of the reasoning faculty as precious. And because I view the sensations as subordinate to the mind the focus of this composition shall be upon mind-orientated treasures, indeed known as ideas. Furthermore this composition shall cover the negating ideas of Christian theology.

Two of probably the most enshrined of ideas amongst men are that (1) man can by some process achieve a God like status or (2) in fact is a god at present. The founder of this idea was the devil, as revealed in the Scriptures. And he first applied the idea in its raw form to himself through a proclamation aimed at God, saying, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. He then applied the idea to the woman, Eve saying that she would be as God if she only but ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This idea has been adopted and elaborated upon by religions such as Humanism, Atheistic Evolutionism, Mormonism and Free Masonry, etc. Where Humanism teaches that man is the measure of all things, Atheistic Evolutionism that man is the closest to perfection of all organisms, especially the Caucasian man (Arianism, racism), Mormonism that man can become a god, and Free Masonry that man achieves a higher state of being as a god through secret knowledge (Gnosticism).

The doctrine of the Father God, of which I favour, argues a resounding refutation against these sorts of Polytheistic ideas. This is because God declares in His revealed Computation that He is one God, who is by nature omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. And therefore God is the measure of all things instead of man. God is also divinely sovereign over all things and the only one who is good, but man is by nature enslaved to his master sin so that he is totally incapable of an act of free will, due to the fall caused by Adams sin. A man cannot be free if he is the servant of sin. Man wills only for evil continually and is in a state of total depravity so that he can only be freed by Gods gift of unmerited favour (grace), which truly reflects on the majesty Gods nature.

Due to prolonged dispute over the matter of the nature of God and man, Calvinism in light of Augustinianism and Arminianism in light of Pelagianism were formed. Calvinism was explained under the doctrines of Total inability which holds that man is unable to will for any spiritual good because he is dead in sin, Unconditional Election which holds that God has predestined men and angels to either everlasting death or life, Limited Atonement which holds that none other than the elect have been redeemed by Christ, effectually called, justified, adopted, sanctified, and saved, but the elect, Efficacious Grace which holds that it is the work of God that we embrace Christ, and The preservation of the saints which holds those who God has called and sanctified cannot fall away from grace, being eternally saved. And these doctrines are referred to as the theological term TULIP, which built so well around Augustines premise that man is spiritually dead at birth. Arminianism argues to the contrary of every doctrine of the TULIP, because it has its roots in Pelagianism, as does Semi-pelagianism. Pelagianism argued that man is spiritually well at birth and chooses his own destiny whereas Semi-pelagianism argued that man is born spiritually sick and needs God's grace to be saved, but that man has the ability within himself to accept or reject that grace.

So a Christians theology is basically either concise with a focus on God, man and God, or man. But a focus on man and God as the variant of a focus on man or God can be rendered as a focus on man, if one adheres to the principle of contradiction.

Lets discuss these things. They are quite important.

With all do respect, you need to take all your personal, sick and vacation days and go on a Disney cruise. My husband worked with the profoundly retarded for 15 years, I have worked with the elderly. Naturally working with the eldelrly is nothing like working with the profoundly retarded.

It seems the purpose of this thread is to bash Rick Warren. Yes, there some points in his book I disagree with, all in all though the message is a good one. people are here to do God's will.

Did you know the best way to kill a rat with a little rat poison is to deceive it into thinking that the food is good to eat by covering the poison in goodness? Did you know it takes just a drop of poison in a glass of water to render the whole package useless? The fact that you eat what Rick Warren's cooking even though you disagree with points in his theology is disturbing. "people are here to do God's will." Everyone???

I suppose it's all a matter of perspective. I've read a lot of books, and believe Rick to be a very good writer compared to most authors.

I enjoyed reading his book. Yes, there are things in it that I don't agree with, but I haven't read a book yet, except for the Bible, that I haven't found something in it that I didn't agree with.
