  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Back in the 80s there was a real world fear that the Soviets could invade, this was evident in the amount of people who built bunkers in their own back yards, or stockpiled weapons in their attics and basements. In the original Red Dawn this was reflected and America was invaded by the Soviet Union. In the 2012 version of Red Dawn, America was supposed to be invaded by China, an actual real world threat with the capability to pull off an invasion of sorts. Instead the producers digitally removed China as the enemy, and replaced them with North Korea. Excuse me, how in the world is a militarily isolated country going to pull that off? This may be a good story for a game such as Command and Conquer, where the evil scientists of the North are secretly building battle Zeppelins to invade a weakened America, but it's not very believable when put to film. Regardless, I have no doubt that the movie is good, and I will watch it, but I probably won't leave the theater with that foreboding feeling that an invasion by an arch enemy is imminent...something I did have when I left the theater in 1984.

how do they invaded without us picking them up on the radar miles before reaching the mainland??? Cloaking??

I believe it due the North Koreans usung EMP devices that shutdown all power and power grids etc.

Anyway the the remake of Red Dawn itself wasn't bad but it wasn't excellent either, it just seemed to be all about the ACTION, the original is a good action/drama film and the remake just didn't have the heart from the original with the anti-war theme and all that.
