  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are your thoughts about people (both men and women) who expose, or post pictures and/or videos of their ex-girlfriends or ex-boyfriends? Also, what are your thoughts on women especially, shaming their significant others for cheating on them? I see it as rather despicable and rather sad. Why can't both men and women (some) feel the need to humiliate someone they claim to have loved? Why would a man or woman feel the need to exploit their exes' wrongs online, body parts, or try to murder their exes?

I have read about men and women who have posted nudes of their exes on porn sites or men's privates. BTW, why does it seem more acceptable for women to "warn" other women and lie about their exes' affairs, and lie about them? If a man were to do it, he would be considered worse than the woman who did the same thing? I recall an incident in which a man cheated on her with another woman only for her to post nude photos to humiliate him and possibly causing him to lose his job. That was a rather mean thing to do. Whatever happened to divorce or moving on with their lives?

The Bible calls for the death penalty in case of cheating (for both the cheater, and the person he/she cheated with!), so a bit of shaming, especially if it stays legal (just telling other people the truth about what your ex did is totally legal), seems fine to me.

Sharing nude pictures/video against someone's wishes should be illegal, and it is in many countries. For example here, you basically own the copyright to your own likeness, so you need to have a pretty good reason if you want to use someone's likeness without permission. To connect this with the cheating: two wrongs don't make a right, so breaking the law in order to punish someone for cheating is a bit shady.

Posting private images of someone without their consent is disgusting and illegal.

Telling someone that X or Y cheated is legal and totally different than posting revenge porn. It's more of a gossip type thing, though if they are lies I believe that could be considered slander and be illegal (in the case of lies, also disgusting to do).

I never tire of posts from Bible thumping atheists. Its like people who don't believe in Santa scolding children about him watching them all the time.

Warning people is fine. I find that such warnings usually fall on deaf ears when love finds its mark.

If somebody cheats on another person then they should be shamed but it is difficult for a victim to do this in a dignified fashion. Posting nude photos is petty and if somebody is going to be shamed and humiliated it should be for what they have chosen to do. Nude photos would embarrass and humiliate anybody and it says nothing about the character of the individual.

This has existed in one form or another for centuries. It is just with the social media, distribution of said revenge tactics is immediate and wide-spread.

It was wrong in the 1800s and it is wrong now.

That they are crossing a line of civilized behavior. They are only showing how petty and small-minded they are.

A disgusting cry for attention and childish display of disrespect. I've been sent pictures by a former girlfriend and even though the relationship ended with a spectacular fallout her pictures shared in confidence are safe with me.

It's just me respecting her as a person and respecting myself as an honorable person.
