The things we noted in Season three (or earlier) and are wondering about now:

My first one:

Desmonds visions and Charlies deaths:

1) Desmond saw repeated visions of Charlie dying: drowning, lightning strike, booby trap, ect.

2) The code required to shut down the jamming device at the `Looking Glass' required either somebody with a very good memory (unless it was written down somewhere), or somebody with excellent musical knowledge - like Charlie. Without the jamming device turned off, the rescue most likely would not have happened (assuming it does).

3) In the `future segments', Jack apparently came to bitterly regret being rescued and leaving the island. It was something that was not supposed to happen.

Hence...some(thing?) on the island was trying to kill Charlie before Charlie could turn off the jamming device.

That's a pretty good thought. Since Locke is always trying to do what the island wants (which led directly to Boone's death) I have to wonder if his obedience to the island, and the island itself, aren't related to Desmond's flashes.
