  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

1"To the angel[a] of the church in Ephesus write:
These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands: 2I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. 5Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

My dear,

Jesus Christ is asking the apostle John to write a letter to a church or a group of Christians and I will go with the old King Jimmy version of God's Word here:
Rev 2:4Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Notice [somewhat] and also keep in mind that this church was probably a bit rusty. From what can be gathered they are a faithful works church... but they are lacking the compassionate zeal that only the Holy Spirit can bring as a child of God does good works. A Joy in ministry. When I first started walking with the Lord it was such a Joy, so exciting... but things get a bit dull sometimes as we continue our walk... we need to be diligent in more than just playing church... we must maintain a vital relationship with Him by prayer and God's Word... Fresh filling of the Holy Spirit is what I think is emphasized here... then the obedience flows like a river.

I think you have made a great point NoMoreTearsWithJesus... Jesus said elsewhere:

Jhn 14:21He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

But look at all that is nested in this verse... God loves us when we obey Him yes, but He will let us in on stuff that the rest of the world has no idea about if we obey as well. Including the mysteries of His Word.

Please let me know if this helps... it appears that no one else has been able to help you with this question... I think what JPPT1974 is trying to say is "repent" which means turn around and go the opposite direction or to change significantly... ask Him for forgiveness for getting rusty and let Him fill you with all the fullness of God as Paul wrote to the Ephesians in Ch 3 of that letter:

Eph 3:19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Imagine an infinite God filling YOU NoMoreTearsWithJesus with all of HIS fullness... WOWWEEEHOOOOO... I got myself all excited!
